SO I OVER REVED THE MOTOR WAY TOO MUCH AND DID ALOT OF DAMAGE. IT SOUNDS LIKE STUFF IS FLYING AROUND AND BANGING INSIDE THE MOTOR AND I LUCKLY GOT IT BACK TO THE HOUSE WHEN I WAS DRIVING. SO BASICALLY IM SCREWED AND I NEED SOME HELP.
I AM LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON REPLACING THE MOTOR OR REBUILDING IT.
HAS ANYONE EVER SQUEEZED A BIGGER MOTOR IN IT FROM A DIFFERNT SUZUKI BIKE?
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION, DOES ANYONE IN MARYLAND FEEL LIKE HELPING ME GET MY BIKE BACK ON THE ROAD? ILL BUY THE BEER AND BURGERS :cheers:
Sounds like you broke a valve when they floated, hitting the piston.
Damage probably includes piston(s), cylinder, valve(s) and maybe the head, or at least the valve seat(s). It could be something else like a broken rod. You will not know until you pull the head. Anyway you look at it, it is bad news.
Another motor is possible, maybe. But you would very limited to what would fit in the frame. A lot more work than would want to deal with.
D, could he have had his rotor delaminate and cause the racket? Shades of Goat's Syndrome?
WELL LETS FORGET ABOUT PUTTING A DIFFERNT MOTOR IN THERE. ANYONE SELLING A STOCK MOTOR? HONESTLY I DONT REALLY FEEL LIKE TEARING IT DOWN AND REPLACING ALL THESE PARTS IF I CAN JUST BUY A MOTOR FOR A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS. AND JUST FROM LOOKING AT THE MOTOR IT LOOKS PRETTY DAMN EASY TO SWAP OUT, BUT ONCE AGAIN, I HAVE NEVER WRENCHED ON A BIKE AND IM SURE I COULD STILL MESS SOMTHING UP.

I thought about that but the over revving leads me to valve float damage. An easy way to check is pull the carbs and exhaust to see if the valves are intact.
Well the refreshments are a great offer, but before you start totally cryin in the beer you could eliminate a couple of things.
I trust Dgyver's experience on these things but you could have induced a condition known as "Goat's Syndrome." When it happens it makes a god-awful racket and the bike may or may not get you where you are going.
You can check this without pulling the entire engine apart...only the left side engine cover. Hell, if you have a busted valve, the left side cover is a piece of cake as compared.

You would have to drain the oil before removing the left side cover. At least you would eliminate or confirm it. :)

Draining the oil and see what comes out is a good idea.
Also, you mentioned that you continued riding....did you notice a drastic loss of power?

so far ive done basics... a chain.. front and rear sprocket and oil change
ok, i should have posted more details before. ok after i did it i rode and i had no top end power at all and when i let off the throttle in gear it would slow down really really fast compared to normal. so i continued to ride home. so i let it sit over night thinking MABEY it would be better the next day. so i took it back out the next day and drove around and it felt the same way, no top end at all and it studdered in the 5k range and if i let off the throttle it would slow down very quickly. and a few miles into my ride it started getting worse and the noise coming from inside the motor was louder than the exhaust. it sounded like one of the clear balls with the little colored balls that babys push around and there very loud. so i started heading back to the house and it progressivly got worse. for the last 1/2 mile or so i had to go 30 miles an hour and it wouldnt rev past 2500k and as i pulled into the neighborhood it turned off and i had to roll it to the drive way.
anyways i just want to ride again. its finally getting nice out and i sucked it up and rode for so many cold days and now i want to ride when its warm.

Run a quick compression check on it. And if it did drop a valve there's a good possibility that it hurt the plug, so when you pull them you might see evidence there. Also, quick check while it's running, just pull one plug wire at a time to see if each cylinder is hitting. Love the Baby and the forum.

Yea the fact that it runs indicates bottom end. Rod bearing is a good guess. Counterbalancer is a second possibility.

Finding an GS 500 engine is hard. They are pretty hard to come by (runners, that is).
