Title: Powder coating wheels. . .
Post by: Jake D on April 20, 2005, 12:17:49 PM
These topics suck.

So, I am getting ready to powder coat some wheels.  My bike is black.  What color should I do the wheels?  (note: I'm leaning towards orange)

No matter what color I choose for the wheels, the rest of bike is going to stay black, but will receive Suzuki stickers for the tank that match the wheels and maybe some paint on the grab bar, and solo tail (if I get one).

Anyway, just another stoopid topic to move this crappy day along.

Do 'em in hot pink  :) . That would grab attention. Dunno, the White Owl is white with white wheels but I guess your looking for a contrast. Orange would definitely be a contrast, but then any color goes with black...I'd prabably lean toward blue, a light blue. Not the Robin's egg blue just a light blue like Petty blue. I always thought that was a cool looking color. Long live the King...I love the White Owl and the forum.

That is an interesting suggestion, Petty Blue.  Paint the White owl that color!!  Petty Blue with red wheels!  You must.

I think I've been looking at too many MotoGP bikes lately.  I'm thinking of shooting for that Respol orange.  I know it is a Honda, but me likey.

Or gunmetal. Understated, but black and gunmetal looks very cool.

I'm just afraid red will make it look like an old 500 ninja.

Lime Green?  I know, I know. . . But that color has always caught my eye.

Black would look slick, but if you want to catch attention (at least mine) Bobcat Orange would look cool, I see that color damn near my whole working day and I still like it

Bobcat orange, huh?  Sounds beautiful.  Take a picture of your Bobcat and post it!  I like the color of these wheels.

polish them and then get the powder coated in translucent orange.  Srinath was talking about doing his wheels that way with translucent i think.  I saw it in Super Streetbike where a busa and a gixxer had polished then translucent powdercoated frames.  Looked real awesome.

Yeh, Buell uses a color on their wheels for the XB models that is stunning. It's some kind of translucent gold or something. Love the GS500 and this forum.

Thinking about doing the frame and wheels on my 1990 the same color. What color that is, i'm not sure yet. That's if I don't go the "Rat" route. Somebody sure got a good start on it before I did.

Jake, I could never bring myself to paint the White Owl...she's a mint '89 and runs like new. Plus she was a present from Bebe and I just can't bear to part with her (the bike or Bebe). But yeah, the Petty blue would look good on an '89. Love the little twin, pathetic though it is, and I love this forum.

I wish I was handy with Photoshop.

We need to put a call out to Meighan.  She could dummy up anything on photoshop.

The we could try these things out first on the compter.
