Hey everyone,
What a great site! I have about 1000 miles on my '92 GS500 and was looking to do some mods. I've already added a cafe fairing and am about to receive a K&N air filter. I understand that I need to rejet the carbs after installing them. I was wondering if I need to buy new jets for the carbs or if they are recommended or not? Also, does the tank have to be completely empty before I remove, or can I just shutoff the fuel supply valve? And lastly, if I am taking the bike apart and putting the new airbox in and rejetting the carbs, is there aynthing else I should do or check while I'm in there? Thanks a lot! You guys rock!

Use 40 pilots, 150 mains and 1 #4 under each needle and air screws set to 3 out. FAQ has more detail. You do need pipe, K&N wihtout pipe = hard to tune. Tank with fuel is heavy, but you can use shut off valve and keep it from pouring out ... yea ...

can you show me? i have no idea where it is located.
4-5 month ego i cleaned carbs, disassembled an reassembled every details.
does it needs adjustment?
The air screw is in the front part, ~1/2" from the manifold, on the under side of the carb and under a brass cap (unless its been drilled out).
If you put a mirror on top of the starter on the bike, you'd see a pencil sized brass plug with a pin hole in the center sitting atop a aluminum well.
Drill that brass plug out and there is the air screw.
Close it lightly and open 3 turns.

if i correctly guess Mixture Screw on the picture is the air screw.
why 3 turns? my i adjust it myself?

In our case the idle/mixture screw is metering fuel; in some carbs it regulates air flow into the idle circuit, but then the screw is on the airbox side of the carbs.
