Title: which tailend / seat to choose
Post by: Susuki_Jah on April 22, 2005, 12:07:20 AM
ok I know some of you on the board have swapped rear ends.

I was wondering which one in your opinions would give me a nice sporty feal and solid look that will still hold another passenger. ive seen alot of bikes out there with the broken seat look. sportier seat in the front then plastic, then a small rear seat for the passenger. I like this look. My rear is already busted up because thats how I bought it. I want a whole deal, the tail light, sides and seat.

what ideas do you all have and if the guys who have done these mods could post atleast one picture that would be totally cool.

Several people have done the switch. Here is my project, waiting for my new welder so I can get it done. This is just a test fit.

The GSXR 750 tail mounts up REALLY nicely on the pre-01. I bought on for my 01 and it didnt fit well and i didnt wanna chop, then for kicks we threw it on MK1inCali's 00 and it fit perfect, lol, i was pissed.

Danny, did you guys have to fab anything up for that?  Did it bolt right on?

Also, what year is that tail?

Im not sure on the year, ill talk to the guy I bought it from.

As for mounting, you would just need to fab up mounts to the existing subframe mounts. On the 01 I would have had to chop the subframe, but since the pre-01 (89-00) has a smaller subframe there was no need. It doesnt bolt right up, but the front can bolt into the gas tank bolts (that or it covers them, i cannot remember) then just fab some mounts up to the rear of the subframe, possibly brace it, but there is no cutting needed on pre-01's. Ill give the guy a call tonight.

cb700s nighthawk, very narrow so it makes the 140 rear tyre look big

R1 rearend is very nice, BUT if you stay with the original rear wheel it looks really whimpy, the R1 is still to wide...

OK the tail was from a 2000 GSXR 750 SRAD. Hope that helps!

Jake D, noticed. ghey homosexual = straight..

Susuki_Jah, those aluminium pegs are from CBR600. oh, by the way, passenger pegs. with little modifications, pegs fit perfect.

Skim, i take pics someday

Jundie, original rear wheel does not look whimpy if you change silencers place
