Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who's offered advice, authored how to's, and especially to siranth for his guidance with the carbs. The little yellow beast is alive and well! After a rejet/cleaning, Uni air filter, derusted/kreemed tank, new fork seals/15W/progressive springs and a little TLC.
My wife took it for a quick little ride today in our development and I followed on the TTR, and she loved it. Only a couple of cosmetic mods + the katana shock left to do.
THE FORKS FEEL GREAT! if you haven't done progressives + 15W yet do it. It's the absolute best $$ you can spend on the GS. The forks actually almost feel better than the ones on my SV. Braking rocks with the new setup.
Once the Katana shock is on there, I'm betting that it's gonna be one heck of a little bike. Probably going to switch out the old tires soon too, probably for Sport Demons. Thanks again everyone!
Here's a picture of the bike:

:thumb: I hope you and your wife enjoy many miles on the GS. It looks really clean considering the bugs it had on the inside.
Trust me, if you think it's nice now, just wait until the Kat shock goes on there
