Title: Where to find windscreen mounts?
Post by: billdapart on April 27, 2005, 12:00:37 PM
So I picked up a buell m2 windscreen the other day and I've been looking for mounts for it for about a week now. Haven't been able to find anyone who had 'em. The harley dealer 60 miles away said they could special order some for me and they'd cost about 35 bucks. Anybody else no another way I can mount this thing?

Lots o luck.... I recently was looking for some parts for my GS. I got a lot of the standard answer "its too old" crap. 96  I found online that bike salvage yards are a way to go if you know a part number. Something like you want there with the mounts I suggest what I did. I found the closest salvage yard to me, 75 miles away. Made a trip there this weekend. It was great. Needed a set of 7/8" handlebar clamps. He showed me the clamp drawers and turned me loose in a couple thousand pairs to choose from, all 7/8.  I wanted to mount a luggage rack to the GS he justed showed me the luggage rack pile and I sorted through till I found what I thought would work. $10 for the clamps, $20 for the rack. I took the wife to some flea markets in the area and made a day out of it. Beats the heck out of the dealer prices.
I went to the "Rice Paddy". in Columbus Ohio. They have an online site that is useless but now I know where to go for the odds & ends stuff.

I bought a set of universal headlight brackets like these

Not sure how I'm gonna put it all together, but it's a place to start.
