Title: For all of you new riders.....
Post by: Jasco on May 01, 2005, 04:50:15 PM
Since this board has a lot of new riders I thought I would make a suggestion.  REad "A Twist of The Wrist II" by Keith Code.  I am half way through it and after one year of riding it is teaching me a lot.  Applied some of the techniques described in the book while out on a ride this weekend and it has greatly improved my cornering speed and stability.  Good read all around whether you want to ride fast or not.

Thanks, I've read a lot of recommendations to buy this or similar books.  I was dragging my feet on buying it, but your review hit home with me(1 year rider, want to improve cornering, etc), so I went ahead ordered tonight.

Hi all,
This is an old post that I wanted to comment on because I believe it may help some new riders.

I am relatively new here.  I have been riding my new GS500F for about 6 months now.  I live in Ohio and was pressed by my insurance agent and several friends to take the basic MSF course.

It took a while to get into the MSF class due to a long waiting list.  After completion, I was a little disappointed because I just didn't feel like I learned anything at all.  I had already taught myself everything the MSF class had to offer.

I kept looking for something else that would help and I had seen a few posts about Keith Code's book "A Twist of the Wrist II."  I found the dvd on Ebay with free shipping and saved a couple of bucks.  This video is exactly what I should have learned from before I ever got on my new bike.

All new riders.  Please consider watching the dvd or reading the book "A Twist of the Wrist II."  The cost is minimal for what you will learn.  The techniques and advice are worth well more than what I paid.

Scott

THX for bumping this. I searched online and found the torrents for both the vid and pdf. Seems I will have something to do today when I get home.

Its a pretty good read for sure as far as motorcycle books go.  The video is a good watch too, if you can get past the bad acting from the 2 guys on the R6 and the Repsol Honda ;) ... but all the parts with Keith are very good.
