I recently took out my Ignition Advancer to send to Bob B, but when I looked at the advancer it says 5-35, which is on the California Models. But my bike is from Ohio.
If someone Not from California could look at theirs and tell me what it says, I would greatly appreciate it. I want to see what ignition advancement yours came with?
THANKS, BigTwin -OHIO-
I believe all US versions come with a 5 degree advance, all others have a 12. Only differences that I know of.
you'll have to do a search to be sure but CA had 5-35 stamped on it and 49 state models got 12-23 I think. the 5 and 12 I am sure of, the others not so much. Bob has been able to modify the CA ones to work same as the modified non-CA models.
I don't have a charcoal canister or a hose connecting the carbs, I just want to know why I have the 5-35? So I guess that means I don't have the CA version, right?
Any more input, I would like to see what people with a 2001 or 2002 have to say, all it takes is 5 minutes of your time to open up the cover and check. I just REALLY want to know what is on other 2001-2002 non-cali bikes?
THANKS, BigTwin
Can't help you with the '01 / '02-specific stuff, but this post (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=49662#49662) contains some advancer info from Bob Broussard himself. And he oughta know....
I'm in Michigan and I just opened mine, thinking about triing the diy.. it's the same, 5-35 . so does this mean they DIY will be a problem?
