Title: Question about Wileyco's
Post by: Queball on May 02, 2005, 09:29:08 PM
I'm getting ready to get one of the Wileco's. All of them have some kind of scratch or imperfection. I really can't examine them that well through the pictures. Any info on which type of scratches are least obvious?

Also, when searching through posts trying to find info on this, (I gave up after a while) I noticed someone said the Wileyco was loud. How loud is it? I don't mind something louder, but I really don't want to set off the car alarms when I take off from my house.

The scratches ... OK look for the least visible ones in the pics ... most of mine seemed to clean out just perfect ...
Loud ... its not that loud ...
The D&D was louder, and the yosh was loouder above 5K ... these tend to be loud down low and relatively quieter high.
Cool.

hey queball,

i have a wileyco on my F
really good pipe
how loud, you ask?
well, it's definitely got an undertoning rumble that is easily louder than the stock exhaust

if you're in a parking lot and rev that bad boy above 6000,
you definitely have the potential to set off some alarms,
but that can be solved by simply putting away quietly
and then,
LETTING HER RIP WHEN YOU FAR AWAY ENOUGH!!!
muahahahahaha

here's a pic of what the exhaust looks like on my F:

hope this helps

cheers,

cheapo lockhart ones that don't work anymore
(3 weeks ago after riding for 20 minutes, my turn signals all of a sudden just stopped working  :x  :x  :x )

in the shop now getting the turn signals fixed,
but more importantly, the dynojet kit installed (YAAAAAAAH)

but don't fret, i was really really drunk/stoned a week ago and bought these bad boys off of ebay, in the midst of my unsober state:

or
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4544263151&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

who pays so much for turn signals?
i wish i didn't, but i guess i'll just have to install them and see if they really do compliment the carbon fiber mirrors/exhaust/tank protector

cheers,
joel

All right. Purchased the can. Heh, I guess I'm commited to making some noise, thanks for scaring me guys, but if it's quieter at higher rpms, I believe that is better for me.

Thanks for the info, can't wait to get it on the bike along with a different air filter and new jets.

will the flange/can setup work on a 92?

also.. what will a 15t sprocket do?

Not to jack this thread, but a 15t sprocket is a "15 tooth" front sprocket that you can put on your bike that will basically lower the final gearing of the bike to give it more low end power or torque.

The Wileyco is for a GSX-R 750, usually 96-99.  Srinath, a moderator here makes flanges that will allow you to cut the can off your '92 and fit the Wileyco onto your bike.  Generally, the '89-'00 bikes are interchangable (save for the handlebars on an '89).

There you go, noob!

so are there less then 15 on the stock sproket?
does accelleration increase or topspeed?

Stock set up is 16t front, and I think 49t rear.

Putting on a 15t will slow the bike down at top speed but it should accelerate quicker.

most of us....yanks have no FRIGGIN clue what a MOT is.....

are aftermarket exhausts legal there?
can you go to a dealer and buy a I-4 stock exhaust system from a bike that had a pipe installed?
if you can
cut the back half of the I-4 exhaust
weld it to the front half of the GS
then you should be able to swap out a STOCK can with an aftermarket can
when ever you need to....

i think all your aftermarket cans have to have some....blah blah EU compliant sticker on it....

I also have a question about my Wileyco pipe. When I got it it was pretty scratched, is there a way to buff out the scratches? (it is SS)

Also, when I picked it up out of the packaging I heard something that sounded like very small pebbles rollng around inside the can, I think some of the insides are loose, could this cause a problem?

I am going to e-mail DK trader about it, so we'll see what happens.

You will probably find that DK has good customer service, even on scratch and dent.  The can I got was nearly perfect, save a quarter inch scratch on the back side of the can.

No matter, it is still better than the stocker.

Present arrived for me today. I guess I didn't have to worry about scratches, this can looks great. Better than the stock one on there now. This is turning out to be a pretty good deal. Even got a shirt with it. Hat looks like it's been sitting around for awhile though. Like the keyring.
