hey i just went to the dealer a week ago and they had put the fork seals in for me 80$. I drove only 2000 km's on them and they are leaking again. I need to use my bike to work which is about 100 kms, to work and back. soo what can i dude, i was thinking puttin weather Silocone around them. anyways else i could use to help the leaking a little. Thanks guys
perhaps they were overfilled with oil?

Ditto. Take it back and raise hell. Fork seals should last a long time... not 2k km. Even if they are overfilled w/ oil, seems to me the ride would just be really stiff, but they still shouldn't leak.

No. If the seals are already leaking then the slider bushings may be worn, allowing the sliders to rock about the tubes which wears out the seals real fast. Silicone won't stop the leak either way. Love the Baby GS, Peru (home to the wonderful Andes), and this forum.

OK if its already leaking ... nothing you can do, but there is a way to keep them soft for long periods of time with little to no use ... pull the dust seals up (and best to do it as you're refitting them ... cos being clean is better) and smear/fill that space bwtewwn dust seal and seal with vaseline ... It will keep both the dust cover and the seal soft even when the oil is settled at the bottom ...
BTW for seals are supposed to be replaced 2 years ... OK OK No one does that, OK 5 years ... OK fine when they leak ... I dunno ... you have a bad fokr leg maybe with a speck of rust ??? that tore the seal ...

Put in some automatic transmission sealer. It will work for a short while.

If they are leaking already, look for tiny pits or scratches on the chrome tubes anywhere between just above the seals to just below the stemclamps. if its rusty then they must be cleaned up and smoothed out before you replace them, why they werent done when the shop did it shows you need to find another shop.
Has the dealer used the correct fork seal for the application and not a lip-seal of a similar size. Lip seals are designed to seal when a component rotates inside it, i.e. like a shaft, but they will not seal if a part is moving through them in the way a fork stem functions. I got ripped off in this way once when I was too busy to change a worn seal myself before the MOT ran out. It started to leak again after about 500 miles, I took the fork apart myself and noticed the wrong seal had been fitted so I put it all back together and took it back to the mechanic who promptly blamed a faulty fork tube and denied all responsibility After arguing the case (with a couple of burly mates) and threatening to involve the local Trading Standards office the mechanic gave me my money back in full.
