Used the Search first! couldn't find any info.
Has any one used aftermarket gauges and would happen to know what will work with the gs cable drives?? thinking about some 2 5/8 " autometer. give it a racey kinda look. any info would be appreciated
These aftermarket units would, of course, have to be mechanical drive. I have thought much about this given the gauge lifespan due to drop or collision damage.
Racing bikes have a tach that vampires off the ignitor circuitry. They don't care about the MPH or miles because the thing isn't street legal anyway.
The GS F has an electrical tach that feeds off the new style ignition electronics. There is some wiggle room with that design.
So, what's a modder to do? :dunno:
Let's hope someone chimes in that has experimented in this area.
I plan to -- after getting some other project caught up!
Electronic tachs are no problem to install. If someone is ambitious enough, figureing out how to hook up a electronic speedo would not be too hard. It uses a sensor at the front spocket.
a bit high on the $ side. but this is what i wish i had.

Hammu, the stunter from Finland, has an electronic tach and speedo on his GS. Maybe he'll chime in.
I'm partial to analog guages, especially tach. Guess i'm getting old.
dude that one in the link looks like it would be distracting dont you think?
just a little distracting, but they make a heads up display
the digital with heads up would be cool, but I'd like to have gauges that dont cost more than the bike. I sent autometer an email, maybe they can point me in the right direction. I found a 2 5/8 speedo on ebay for $30.00. I haveno clueif it wouldbe calibrated correctly or how to change it if its not. I think ill wait to hear back from autometer
here's a pic of the white faced gauges that Jared made up..
