Sorry, I'm really new to my GS and therefore don't have a lot to contribute to this thread....yet.   :P

I'd just like to ask, what is an ignition advancer and what does it do?

*prays for no "It advances the ignition, duh!" responses*

Tyrant171 I'm not sure on the technical aspects besides in changes the timing. All I know is it helps performance. Maybee someone else will chime in and shine some light on it.

My ultimate GS would be to keep the '89 Baby as stock as can be I suppose. The White Owl is really neat as it is, except I'd (and will soon I hope) put a better set of tires on her and the fender mod has already been done. If I could get a little more power out of her I guess eventually I'd do that, but my ultimate mod would be to jack her up and roll a Superglide underneath. 'Course, Nicci would still be my Baby. Love the White Owl, Greece (mmm Baclava), and this forum.

2005 GS with S-M bars.  Rejetted with a nice slip-on.  Pirelli Tires.  That's it.

A cup holder, center console, heated (and cooled) leather seat, 1000W stereo, automatic transmission, tinted fly screen, etc. etc. etc.

Stock is fine by me.  More bike is why they make 600's.   8)

Yea all the mods suggested and belt drive and 16inch rear wheel whihc will take 150/90-16's ...
Or how about this ... a bloody bike that doesn't rust and fall apart, or how about fasteners predrilled for easy drilling out and easy outs ...
Cool.
Srinath.

What are the advantages of a belt drive over a chain drive?

I recently bought my ultimate GS. It's not even a GS at all.

ok the likely ones 1st;

Progressive springs,
Kat600 rear shock,
Ignition advancer,
rejet (if your on a US bike, Stock for a UK bike),
15 Tooth front sprocket,
Stainless steel brake lines,
Front fork preload adjuster caps (standard on pre 2000 UK bikes),
Inline fuel filter,
Rear hugger,
Scotoiler.

And the unlikely ones;

A stainless steel frame & swing arm.
A stainless steel exhaust system.
Stainless steel fork tubes.
Stainless steel fastners (all of them).
Belt drive.
A pair of leather trousers that don't leak at the crotch no matter how much it rains.

You'd never guess I live in a wet country where they salt the roads in winter would you?

My current take on building a GS is one that does not look too different than stock but is able to run down a 600.
Hopefully this motor will be a 6-killer. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/dgyver/smilies/naughty.gif)

I already have one bike that is more than fast enough for me.

K&N dual pod filters,
Bandit rear wheel,
OR Gsxr 1k rear swing arm and suspension,
Gsxr 600 or 1k front end,
Half faring,
555 big bore motor,
With Gsxr 4valve head,
solo seat,
I know theres more but cant think of them now.
