Title: Poor fuel effeciency, suggestions?
Post by: bubbers16 on May 04, 2005, 08:45:05 PM
Hi, first time poster

I'm getting like 30 mpg on a 92 suzuki. Last year it was more like 36-38, I'm not running it all that hard. It's got a V&H Supersport pipe on it.

Any suggestions or links even would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Steve

I would start by checking the usual suspects; low tire pressure, dirty/clogged air filter/, plugs, and report back
How does it run?  Black smoke? more info    8)

Floats set high ... after the easier ones ... Dragging brakes is another biggie ... my vulcan was needing full throttle to make 50mph ... and yes it does run better than that ...
Cool.

I would think the brakes are dragging. Or maybe the valves need adjusting because the exaust valve maybe letting out unburnt full. I don't think it would be anything to do with carbs as your fuel efficiency is way down and the bike wouldn't run with petrol ratio was that high.
For gentle riding I get 60-70mpg. Even if I am hammering it I can still get about 50mpg.
