just spent 3 hours trying to get one of the neighborhood kids dirt bikes running. Ive come to the conclusion that mikuni carbs suck!!. every gas powered toy i have has mikuni, if any of them sit for more than a day or 2 the carbs hafe to taken apart and cleaned. everyone of them (including gs) has float prolblems. You all know what I mean, The float that magically adjusts itself while you ride. Im tired of carb problems. I want a fuel injected bike, 4 wheeler and dirt bike.......... I guess then I can complain about electronics.......... just needed to vent!! the couch is calling
Blasphemy! Mikuni carbs are way more adjustable than Kehins! At least you don't have a pair of early Amals with the slide made of the same potmetal as the body. ;)
Blame the government organization that brought you MTBE in our gas that doesn't kill the little microbes that grow in our carburetors, clogging our jets, that lead would have taken care of!
when I was a kid , I had a yamaha 60cc dirt bike with a pot metal slide. if the engine ws hot and the carb got wet ( i.e. riding threw a puddle) the throttle would stick.. wooo hooo lotsa fun!!
Mikuni carbars are alot simpler then Kehien's. i know as im dealing with it now on my XL250R. whats worse is mine has a bloody accelerator pump built in. the replacement carb i got from Ebay is Larger then the stock one so im fighting both ways.
