I finally took my bike out for a 2 hour ride today.
One problem I encounter and cannot think of why this is happening.
After about 40 minutes into the ride and we were riding pretty hard with revs and shift above 7000 RPM, shifting the into different gears was really difficult. It took a lot of force to shift the clutch up or down and I could not find neutral anymore.
After letting the bike cool down for abour 20 minutes and started to ride her again she shifted like butter, up and down, and I could always find neutral. But once again after she was well warmed up it was difficult shifting again.
My oil level is good. Maybe I need to change the oil?
Any clues guys?
my gs does this every once in awhile as well. i dunno what it is... it really sucks when it won't shift and i'm sitting at a red light, and then the light turns green and i'm still in 4th gear. :dunno:
An oil change can't hurt, it's not like oil is expensive.
Also as the engine heats up the clearances around the clutch could well change, perhaps once the engine is fully warmed up you're getting clutch drag. Perhaps if you adjusted your clutch (tightened?) to allow for this it would help.
Sorry for the guesswork but the shifting problems sound just like when I was getting clutch drag.
In my case it was cos someone forgot to use the lock nut on the clutch lever tension adjuster. (no, not me, never....honest)
Whe you say tightened do you mean I should increase the length of the screw at the caes (going counter-clockwise, opening) or decreases it (clock-wise, tightening it).
I'm a little confuse on how the slack works on the clutch cable at the case.
Counter-clockwise. Or, you can do finer adjustments at the lever; pull the rubber cover down the cable to expose the adjuster there; dial it out to take up slack. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left so you can have about 2mm's of slack (this measurement taken between the lever and the leading edge of the perch).

Now does anyone else have issues with shifting after the motor was been warmed up or even hot like in stop and go traffice riding?
I was having problems shifting into neutural, I read that changing the oil helps and it did big time. It shifts great now. Probably wouldn't hurt to do regardless.
