the local dealer is out of the .40 pilots. Is the pilot only for idle or does it affect anything else? wonderingif i could just install larger mains and not have a problem. I read somewhere that the pilots just decrease warmup time?? any help, Id like to rejet this weekend, but can onlyget the mains. I can wait if I have to, I need to adjust the valves also while I have it apart
It will also cure some off-idle hesitation and basically smooth out carburetion all through the range. You did order them? And you pulled, or are going to pull, the brass plugs?
This document below explains what each carb circuit does:

just got off the phone with a ktm dealer across town. they have the pilots, but not the mains. so I have to got to stores on opposite sides of town to get the parts I need. but , I can get them now!!!
0-1/8 th throttle is pilot - as youre trying to take off from a stop or very low speed and you need 40 non bleed's ...
Cool.
