Hi everyone I am new to this forum. I am hoping you helpful lot will be able to help me out. I am looking for the paint code for my GS, I have been told it is under the seat. I have not been able to find it so far. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Its a 2000 year 'W' reg, uk and is like a light metallic blue. I could email you a picture if that would help. Ta
I have been told Suzuki dosent give out paint codes. How can this be? I need the paint codes for a 2000 GS500 its black with blue flakes in it. Anyone know?
Quote from: dgyverfrom color-rite's web site: 2000 GS 33J Pearl Novelty Black...starwalt was putting together a paint code list. Not sure if that included non-US bikes.
I sure am! Dgyver touches on something I suspect...different color for different markets.
The genesis of my project was to identify the tape/decal sets. If looking online, they are identified by a color code. Often the code refers to a combination of other codes! This is maddening especially when all the pictures are black lines on a white background!
Once a bike gets to a certain age, modifications to suit individual tastes start to wane and restoration interests become more the trend. I am making this document for just that.
My sources are ebay,
bikepics.com,
GSTwin.com, and other places I see "original" GS's. I think I have identified a tape set, from ebay UK, that is not identified in the Color-rite code sets. I have decoded the Color-rite and other online codes into "Suzuki speak" colors and arranged those per year.
Cynllunio, I would like a photo of your bike for reference or analysis. My email is in my profile, just click on the email link below. When looking for a color reference, choose a basic unit like the tank or a body panel. Look at the part numbers for the item of choice and pay attention to the last few letter/number combinations. For example: A 1989 frame cover part number is 47111-01D10-22R . The 22R is the color code for the bare frame cover. 22R decodes for Pearl Cool White. Now if you look at the color chart here on GSTwin (found off the main link
here , you find "Perl White" listed for 1989. What gives? Different sources for the information. Color codes from the US parts fiches for 2000 models are 24K Light Charcoal Metallic and 2JX Pearl Novelty Black (also 33J). Again the GSTwin chart confirms and differs slightly.
If anyone has Suzuki color charts, on either side of the ocean, for every year since 1989, it would be nice to know the Suzuki names for the colors. Color-rite is probably only contracting to the manufacturers to market replacement colors.
