Title: more troubles...what else is new
Post by: hotbunz4 on May 08, 2005, 02:11:03 PM
so my bike was outside a buddies house in the rain last night.  When I turned the key, it wouldn't start and the light wouldn't even go on.
Anyway, I push started it and she was bogging down like a fuel starvation problem (which seems like two seperate problems to me). I made it home and by then the light was on but when I flipped the turn signal on it killed out (while I was riding I turn signal light was blinking very fast).
I have to think this is a battery problem but I just got the damn thing. should I put it on the charger and see what happens?  Normally when my batteries drained the light still comes on and it partial tries to start but I got nothing?
thanks for any help

The night before, you may have turned the key past the "Lock" position to the "Park" position before removing it.  In this position (with or without the key in the lock) the taillight stays ON.  I have always assumed this was to help prevent other vehicles from hitting your bike in a parking lot or on the side of the road after dark.

Bottom line: If left overbnight like this, you battery will definitely be drained in the morning.  (Unless you have replaced the stock taillight bulbs with an LED-based alternative.)

Once you get the battery recharged or replaced, try to recreate the scene and see if that's what may have happened.

mmm, don't think I put it to lock at all.  My buddy, however, tried to start it before I even got their so I'll have to ask him.
