I'm just looking for a quick how to on making the 2004F Rear shock a little stiffer.
Thanks!
Matt
turn the collar on the bottom of the shock up to a higher number with the C clamp in your tool kit :thumb:
or have the shock rebuilt with stiffer spring or replace with aftermarket or RGV 250, GSX600 or SV650 shock
To quote Davipu -
You can set it to Katana or GSXR ...
Thanks man,
Cool.
Srinath.
Thanks to both of you!
LOL
Matt
WOW... I just went out and tried to adjust it... Theres so much junk in the way... how do they expect you to tighten it?
Ideas?
Matt
I was going to suggest viagra...
There's a tool in your toolkit to do it. Tough but doable. I'd suggest replacing it with a Katana shock.
- I realize the best way to do it, is to replace it...
- I have the tool, but I see no way to get taht tool in there...
best idea is to scrap the original tool and get an aftermarket C Clamp I got one for a harley and it fits perfectly and makes it so much easier as its quite a bit thinner then the standard C Clamp the standard clamp is to thick at the head and you can barley turn it with out a piece of pipe on the end of the handle for leverage and to save your fingers from being crushed :thumb:

What year Katana shock will fit the GS500F? This seems to be my next project. Thanx.
just about all GSX600 katana's
but you would do better with an RGV250 shock and have it rebuilt as that will give full adjustment of the rear shock I think the Kat shocks have spring preload only, also putting any of the other shocks on KAT or RGV will raise your seat height about 2 inchs and put more weight on your front end which will probably speed up your steering best to ask the guys that have done it, I would have done it by now but raising my seat height by 2" would make it hard for me to touch the ground so I just perserver :thumb:
Yeah the higher seat height i know about. Fixing the kickstand would be just an annoyance. I'll ask around. Thanks.
