that is a drain hose. no that isn't why it's bogging. well.. it's possible... but just make sure the hose isn't kinked.
you can take the gas cap apart and clean it. if you want to wait until this afternoon i'll make a little write up about it
that hose is for the smog cannister below the battery box...if your bike aint a cali model its cool to leave it off and i doubt thats the cause of bogging...i live in ca but my bike came from utah...there was no hose in there and no connector under the carb but the cannister was still there..i didnt connect it though coz they dmv ok'd my bike :thumb: ...

actually, on cali models there are two hoses on the bottom of the tank. one goes to the same place (tank drain, look at the little hole underneath the gas cap) and the other is a type of 'tank vent' that goes to the charcoal smog canister.
i never understood why gas can't drain back into the tank....

gravity says no
but it's draining off the to of the tank... so why not just have it drain straight down into the tank, as opposed to around it and out ?

It's for water too... when it rains you'd have water in your tank
