welcome
actually, the bike was purple but it was painted by the original owner haha.
well, just a question...i just went for a carb clean last friday but tonight, i was on a slight incline on the freeway goin about 70mph and my bike started bogging out. i was in sixth and i felt my bike surging. i put it in res and i made it to the gas station. when i got there, my tank was about half full. what just happened?? it surges in first and second now...i'm gonna take it out tomorrow (well, later today) and see if it works...
oh yeah i'm also up for a tune-up on friday...thanks in advance...
I'm Marc from Spain.
I'm currently owning a blue '91 GS500E with 39Kmiles (63000Km).
Welcome to the forum!
About your problems. GS500 is known to have an issue with the
petcock. The internal rubber valve uses to get dry after years in
contact with gas. Because of this, it does not fully open and carbs do not get the propper fuel level in their bowls.
When experiencing these problems, try to turn petcock to PRI.
If this solves the problem, you need to replace that rubber part.
also, it does have quite bit of gas left in the tank when it hits the reserve.
i had a hunch it was a purple....

what's that supposed to mean??

umm, here's a noob question...how do i adjust the rear suspension? how do i make it lower using the stock suspension? also, how will lowering/raising it change how it handles? is it like a car where lowering will decrease body roll and increase handling?
i just adjusted my stock suspension to the hardest setting... i believe it's set at 4? from the factory. I got a long screwdriver and was able to move it up to 7 while it was still on the bike. If you look at the shock itself, it has a slotted ring around the bottom. You want to turn it clockwise to change the setting higher. I like the stiffer ride, but it isn't as forgiving in the turns.
You can buy new dogbones (which hold the shock) that will lower your bike. I personally would only do this if my body size required it though.

Pet peeve 'o mine - even on a car, just lowering it won't decrease body roll and increase handling. Stiffer, more progressive springs with an appropriately matched shock is part of a better-handling package... but for yer bike, get the preload adusted properly to your weight and get some time on it (running properly) before you start modifying, IMO. :)
Welcome!

yeah i've been in the "2ner" scene for a while now so i know that upgraded springs/shocks are what make a car handle better. just trying to keep my posts short :)
