Hey :) I'm in the process of rejetting my '02 GS500 and I've hit a snag. I had read a forum topic in the FAQ section about rejetting a 2001+ GS500 and there were suggestions on there about which jets to get. I got the main and mid-main jets, but I've been having a problem getting the correct bleed air/pilot jets. The post recommends a #20 jet and it can be ordered through Sudco. I checked to see what the part number corresponds to and it says that it fits OEM BSDR-SUZUKI and next to the part numbers it said TMX36/N224.103. I had ordered a set of pilot jets from Dennis Kirk that said they fit VM, TM, or TMX Mikuni carbs, but when I got them they were really short and didn't look anything like the stock jets that were in the carbs originally. I've looked at the picture of the jet setup on the thread I had mentioned and it looks as though the jet has a round head, but then under it, the jet looks like it becomes hex shaped. I was wondering if the pilot jets are short and screw into the hex shaped part, or if the jets themselves are tall and I need to get ahold of Sudco to get the part mentioned in the thread. Oh, and do I need to change anything besides the air filter (to a K&N). I want to keep a stock pipe, but I want my bike to run better. It's been running lean to the point where my plugs are bright white.
the pilot jet is a long peice.. its round shaped and its a long peice. The shaft of the pilot jet has 'holes' in it. The other two jets are just screw on really small jets that screw on to teh 'risers'.
I have the 137.5 on my main, but the thing is 'leaning out'. I am going to go get 142.5 and 147.5 and try it. I have the K&N lunch box.
I noticed with the #20 pilots it warms up really fast. So if you want to keep the stock intake and stuff go run #20 pilots. But I highly suggest you wait until next week when i get back to LA and drop by sudco to pick up the 142.5 and 147.5's for my bike. I need to test and see which works.
137.5's are leaning out.
