hello to all fourm users !
i am riding a 92' gs and my rear shock is near death . i would like to exchange it to a katana or a gsxr rear shock .
my question is - which years rear shock ( katana and gsxr ) will fit my 92' gs ? i am asking coz i read here
http://johnla2.tripod.com/shkmd01.html%20that that there r 2 shocks for katana and one will fit a 96+ years . on the buttom line , which rear shock can i install on my gs .
another question i have is - can i install other bike fron fork ? one of my front forks is leaking and it will be a good chance to change the front fork to a harder one .
thanks
I think there's some more information on this website if you'll do a search for "katana shock".
I replaced my stock shock with a 2003 Katana shock and it was a direct bolt on. Make sure to get a shock without a resevoir, unless you want that for sure. If you get one with you need to find a spot to put it. The shocks without the resevoirs are a bit easier to deal with.
Check this link for some more info: http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id12.html
Regarding the front forks if you do the progressive spring installation it will make a HUGE difference. I did progressive springs with 15wt oil and the front is nice and tight now.
Here's info on how to do that: http://www.bikepower.net/gs500e-power/gs500e-power.htm
Go to the Modification Manuals section. Good luck!
