Hey I just got a gs and it makes a pretty loud vu vu sound when i'm in the 5 to 6 thousand rpm range. It only makes this noise during this rpm stage. I've tried leaning on the tank and the sound doesn't go away its very strong in pitch; it doesn't seem to a simple vibration but a much stronger vibration. It seems to be coming from the engine but again i'm not sure.
My bike has 11K on it and i'm not quite sure whats going on. Any help would be appreciated.
I have been listening to strange sounds too. I can hear some transmission noise in 6th gear when i accelerate, but not when no force is applied.
The vu vu sound you say, does it sound like a police car or ambulance wanting to pass you? I hear something like that at the given rpm range. I suspect it's the tachometer's cable. But I might be wrong.

The GS does make strange noises. I guess every GS does that. The worst vibration is at 5000 rpm. It shakes my hand off. :)
I hear every kind of noise on mine. Never listened to others yet. :lol:

It's normal. There's not much (supposedly) that can be done about it. My 89 (with 04 fairing/plastics) does it pretty badly.
Do you have pics of your 89? I'm interested in seeing what it looks like.
Oh yeah... my bike makes those noises too and I try So hard to ignore them -- but in the back of my mind it's always the thought of a possible problem? :)

My '93 does it too. Rythmic pulses are normal.
Cool :thumb: White rims look nice.
