Hi fellow GS500 Enthusiasts...
I just rejetted my 500 and placed the washers in the carbs just as the page described.... Well I reassembled everything and now that darn thing won't even turn over....
Is there something that I need to readjust, PLEASE HELP... :dunno:
Define "wont turn over"
Is the starter even engaging, or are you saying you aren't getting any "pops"
that indicate the engine is making any attempt to fire over?
go back and check every single thing you undid. check hoses to see if they are where they are supposed to be. check petcock to see if you turned it back on. dont forget you have to prime it for a few seconds to get fuel back into the bowls. check the cables as well. last step would be to take teh carbs apart again and have a looksee.
The engine is engaging, but it just won't go... It has to be something with the gas an air mixture....
Don't know how to fix though.
Pete
Did you remember to turn the petcock under the fuel tank back on? That has bitten me more than once.
Yea this time I did... but that has bitten me before too... That is the most frustrating feeling...
Fuel selector to PRIme, pull choke open, hit the button. If it doesn't start, try again with a little throttle. And, then again with a little more throttle. Maybe screw in your idle adjustment screw. Don't forget to put fuel selector back to On.
I havent really been into this bikes carbs yet but did you change out the air filter. From what I have read you need to change out of the stock one when you rejet. Also something that gets alot of people when the do carbs is that sometimes without knowing it they will bend the floats a little bit and cause many headaches. check the float levels and also sync the carbs while your at it.
