Well check out location 12 and 13.. it didnt take latigo canyon. Also it didnt place 2 at topanga and PCH but rather somewhere in between, even thoguh it was placed on topanga and pch.
So my quesiton is = how do you use mappoint and streets nd trips for making your maps and routes.. i would like some tips and help.. :)
I got mappoint 2004.
i hope you have these same features on mappoint. i'm using streets and trips 2005.
to take a preferred road or avoid certain road:
in the route planner pane, there are two button on the bottom. optimize stops and [/b]more options...[/b]. click on more options button.
as you can see, it selects quickest as default for all waypoints. this is what i did to take the latigo canyon from waypoint 12. select segments tab. select waypoint 12 address. next, click on preferred roads button. then, click on preferred road types... button. here, you can set the road types you like and dislike. in order to take latigo canyon, slide the tabs for interstates and other highways all the way to dislike side.
another way to do the same is using the select tool, draw a box over the road you want to avoid. once you ahve a box, right click on it. select avoid area from the menu. it now avoids that road. however, this method leaves yellow boxes...
i'm not sure what you meant by it didn't place waypoint 2 at topanga and pch...once you place a waypoint, you can zoom in and drag the waypoint to precisely where you want it to be. plus, you already have waypoint 3 at topanga and pch... :dunno:
other tips:
adjust the driving speed, fuel, costs setting. it give you more accurate trip time and costs. this is especially good for long trip or group rides.
The screenshots below illustrate one of the main features that got me to buy Streets & Trips in the first place:
1) Let's say that S&T chooses an automatic route that you don't like:

2) Click on the automatically selected route. The route will turn blue:

3) Click again and drag to the desired route:

4) Ta Da! The only "downer" is the extra waypoint, but I can live with that.

im going to try playing with it now.
dont do that youll go blind :o
I just coughed up the money for my copy of MS Streets & Trips.
Now i can map out my running and bicycle routes as well! :thumb:
The ability to change roads is definitely a great option :)
I just wish my notebook had a bigger HD so I wouldn't feel bad about installing the full version. I suppose I need to save up and buy some more storage!
Me likey MS Streets and Trips, a lot. :thumb: The Pocket PC version is pretty... er... basic, though. :(
