for those of you on the road who havent taken the course(I was one), TAKE IT!!!
Over the past weekend it has corrected many of my bad habits and made me much safer and confident in what little skill I know I posses...takes the cockiness right outta ya and at the same time gives you the skills to be cocky
I took the MSF (via Harley Davidson's "Rider's Edge" course) this weekend, as well. Definitely worth the money and time. I feel like I will be a much safer and more competant rider because of the course.
Yep.
You're not a total bad-ass until
you complete your MSF course.
:guns: :(
I assume you mean the basic course.
Also don't forget the experienced rider course. In Ohio it's an extension of the basic course except you ride your own bike and there's no classroom stuff.
One day, five hours, of riding on the range.
In Ohio it's so cheap I'm considering taking it every spring. I don't practice like that on my own.

It amazed me to learn how drastically different the amount subsidized by the state differs from region to region.
In NY, I paid nearly $USD 400 for the basic course. Even excluding the 3 year discount on my insurance I think it was worth it.
I'm amazed there are riders who live in states (or provinces) where the courses are heavily subsidized (how much does it cost in Ohio? Like $USD 25?), who haven't taken them repeatedly. I recall reading on another forum that the course was free in New Jersey.
C
from someone i talk to, the course in NJ isnt free. its over 100 bucks. here in PA however it IS free. both basic and experienced (i think). and of course u get ur license at the end. and permit is ~25 bucks, no test.
I took the course here in tx. forgot how much i paid but not to brag or anything but me and my bro scored the highest out of anyone and 4 of the people in my class had been riding their whole lives and their wives made them take the test...*smirks and looks for acceptance* haha ya I learned alot though in the course, worth taking it.

thats just mad.
I'm hoping to take the experienced rider course in July, if there's room. Prices here in GA are thus... BRC $250, ERC $150.
Oh, by the by does anyone know what it costs to do the instructor in training program? I think teaching classes would be a fun way to make a little extra scratch on the weekends.
Yes, it's $25 in Ohio and well worth all that money  .
That's crazy, $400? WOW!

I took the MSF in NJ and it is free if you go through the state. All you need is a valid permit. There are private places that charge also which is probably what you are refering to.
Took the BRC in Minnesota two weekends ago. $125, plus another $8 to the DMV for adding the endorsement to my license.
In my mind, its a great investment at any price. I would pay $400 if I had to - made a huge difference in my riding and behavior in traffic.
DO IT

John..
Do what I did and sign up to become an instructor..
Over the years I have taught dozens of people to ride..
Only to find out I was passing my bad habits down to them..

Ohio is the home of Honda motorcycles...
I'll bet they have something to do with it being so affordable...
