Post by: jefferygs500 on May 30, 2005, 02:40:40 PM
Hey i was driving down the road this evening for about a 10 mintue drive. the bike just stops on me, so i pull over to the side of the road and then try and start it back up.  the bike starts back up, but an awful backfire comes out of her. The bike did this like 3 times in a 10 mintue drive what could be wrong guys?? Thanks

Valves out of adjustment. Most likely the exhaust valves are too tight not allowing enough compression and the resultant unburnt fuel is ignited in the exhaust pipe. When was your last valve adjustment?

Everybody, remember, these bikes do not have automatic hydraulically adjusted valves like that on a car.
