I have a stock '89 gs, the air filter is really dirty. I'm going to replace it with a new one, but I don't want to rejet, should I go with OEM or the K&N with restricter installed.
thanks,
atek3
That depends on 2 things:
* How well has it been running with the paper filter?
* How often do you plan to clean / replace the filter?[/list:u]If it's been running OK (except possibly a little rich because of the dirt) and you don't plan to replace the filter for
another 16 years ( ;) ) then an OEM filter may fit the bill.
Even with the restrictor, the K&N runs a tad leaner than the OEM filter (I
think). But up at 4,800 feet that has been a plus for me, and on my long trips through all elevation levels (CA coast to 12,095 feet) I haven't had any complaints.
Thanks for reminding me; it's probably about time to clean and re-oil my K&N. :thumb:

Besides, I'm surprised it doesn't happen MORE often with my wireless connection from richard:

(And this is a GOOD day!) Then again, I'm not paying much for it, so I can't complain TOO much.
