Will the big can slow the bike down?

no, in fact it will probably add 10-15 hp at the wheel.  If you get some fierce stickers, you might get another 3-5 poinies.

You know, this is the second time that I've seen somebody suggest this on GStwin.
It isn't going to look good.  It will make your bike run like crap (probably jetting issues that not even Srinath will want to advise you on).
BTW, are you the guy that also wanted to turn his GS into a cruiser?

Quote from: Jake DBTW, are you the guy that also wanted to turn his GS into a cruiser?

I have cruisers, the GS was bought specifically because it was not a cruiser..

This is exactly the reason I ran it by you guys.. I wanted to see if I was way off..
The cost difference from that to a Wileyco is negligable.. I guess thats the way to go..

Thanks for reeling me in from outerspace guys..

Hey, there is nothing wrong with thinking up alternatives. If you dont try different Ideas out then your are only left with doing what everyone else does. What everyone else does doesnt make it the only way to do something. Sure in this case you would be better off not doing that but you should always feel free to bring new ideas to light with out the fear of being Sh#$ on for forward thinking.

There are a lot of cool mods out there for the GS 500.  Look at DarkCyde's  bike, for example.  That is a dead sexy R1 tail on there.  Do that mod.  Or get a solo tail from Dgyver, or chin fairing.  Get a slip on from Srinath.  Get custom paint like Octane.  Look at Jim Knopf's bike on the Wall of Fame.  Those are bikes that will get tons of respect on this board or on the street.  Make it clean.  Make it wild.  You could mod the crap out of it and never come close to the potential that some of the bikes here have realized.

I might have a few old bobcat loader mufflers laying around at the shop here... might you be interested in one of those don't think it'll make the gs sound like a diesel though

Yesss!!! its all about the bobble-head pope.  Will add about 16hp to the rear wheel, without a doubt.  And if he has the blessing hand option, youll never wreck.  Anyone else waiting to see the lightening bolt that is about to take me out for that :)

Yes..
I was actually considering putting the carbon fiber version of that can on my GS..

The only difference between it and the wileyco is that it is nearly twice the size and about half the price...

I still think it would look kick ass, but I certainly think group concensus keeps a person from doing something crazy..  :)

It probably would look good from the rear... but you would have to add one of those crown air freshners above the tail light...

I think he is onto something with the thinking outside the box thing. There aren't enough aftermarket parts out there for us so we DO need to get a little more creative and stop limiting ourselves..

You can get this Civic one for $60..

I'm now concerned with carb Jetting considerations..
The Wileyco is tried and true.

I may try it.. The worst that can happen is I have to put it back on e-bay and I may lose 10 or 15 dollars on the resale..

Other then losing a week of riding while things ship back and forth.. :(

I cant get the link to work to that one under tail but it looks like it had the same outlet diameter as the muffler your looking to get.  If you would remove the tail light and place the muffler on the tail light cut out spot it would look really coo.  but then you would need to put another tail light on and that might be a problem.  But if I can figure out how to post the pic I will.  I think the only reason people were freaking out and not liking the idea, including me, was the outlet is so huge.  but then again I have never seen one that big on a bike except that one undertail.  Im all for an undertail, but mounted in the stock position would be cool also.  Also I dont think the jettting would be much different if any from the wileyco.  That pipe is straight through isnt it?

A complete revamp of the exhaust is not cheap..
