im riding around for 1.5hrs about 6 blocks from my home in 4th gear throtle open and my bike starts lugging!!! Close the throttle shift down open throttle. Its fine for a couple seconds then it becomes more violent. I look down and see a red light shining! Oh shaZam! I think and kill the engine immediately. I try putting it in neutral with no luck. Coast to the side of the road and walk it into a bay. Try neutral or 1st again with no luck and I am stomping on the gear shifter. Look under my bike and see brown drops under the engine! Let the bike cool a bit and check oil everything seems fine, try neutral again and slips in effortlessly. Start it up and ride home.
Question, is it common to have trouble getting it into 1st after heavy riding? And more importantly the oil, does oil ever trickle out? Is that why you have to check the oil before every ride. This is a brand new 05 and has me scared.
Oh to top it off, yesterday I'm about to get on the bike and my front is flat! Valve stem sprang a leak some how. I hope the machine isnt cursed!
no that's not normal. take it back to the stealer and tell him how f%&ked up it is and that you want a new one. seriously.
what should I say? It less than 200km on it and has only revved above 5000rpm a couple times
do you think its a manufacturing defect?
man...sorry to hear that. you shouldn't be seeing any of those symptom on a '05. how was the fuel level when it started lugging?
if you're a new rider, it can be tricky to find the neutral...as for the first gear, that could be some what tricky on gs. don't pull in the clutch all the way to find the first gear easier.
well, I'd take it back and be like, the oil light came on and I stopped and then there was black dripps coming out.
it sounds like they didn't fill it with oil when they were putting it together, and that they did a real sham job if the valve stem is leaking too. I'd take it back and just start bitching, oh and find a complaint form for the BBB (better business bureau) the official way to report bad business practices, and if the dealer gives you any problems whip it out of your pocket and start filling it out, also if there are any problems that you have with that dealer, email suzuki and complain. they take that kind of thing seriously, and google search the dealer, usually all the crap that they did will come up and you can find other people that they screwed over.
oh and i forgot to mention that my rear brake whines like an old pinto!!!
Take it back man... They have a 2 year warranty right?

that could be considered as normal...
jetswing: went for a quick ride last night and couldnt find 1st and then remembered what you said and found gear flawlessly. Thanks!
davipu: taking it in right now to get it looked at. Fingers crossed
Definitely: the oil pressure light should NOT come on while riding. I think I've read a couple of posts here, from people who had an intermittent oil pressure light (goat?), but I think those were on old or rebuilt engines.
The oil drops under the bike: it's unlikely, but possible that some car left them; were they hot? Try parking the bike over newspaper overnight and look for signs of oil in the morning. Your bike should not drip oil.
If the drops were brown (not black), they might be "blow-by": sometimes, a little oil will get forced out of the crankcase into the airbox. There is a drain hose from the bottom of the airbox. If the bike drips something, it would be good to know whether it's coming from a drain hose. You can put a little "catch bottle" on the end of each hose, and see if one is dripping.
i took the bike in and the mechanic spent 2+ hrs going over all my complaints.
the oil was not hot and i did put a paper under the bike with no spots in the morning. He also took off the tank and rechecked all the wiring which he said was a problem with another guys sv650. Another possible reason for my problems could be because I didnt switch to reserve in time which caused the lugging/loss of power with oil light coming on due to lack of fuel in carbs. I am praying my probs are due to the above, time will tell since the bike runs beautifully
i just ordered a clymers manual and a basic motorcycle techbook which will hopefully teach me more about the bike
it's a line of bull, they just don't want to pull the motor apart. btw did you check to see if there is oil in it now?

Is nothing sacred?!?!?
davipu- i was thinking the same thing too but it has been working well the past couple of days. I check the oil before every ride and check for beads after every ride. Everything seems ok. I will be taking it in for its first servicing soon. WOuld you recommend also taking it somewhere else and seeing what they have to say?
is it the same dealer that you bought it from? if yes, then yeah take it somewhare else. perferably a triumph dealer, thier service 99% of the time rocks. the best you will ever find, they don't normally care if you bought the bike there, only that you ride (don't act all squidly when you go) and they understand that honesty with the customer is the only way to bring them back, that is why all new triumphs come with a two year unlimited mile warranty.
