Ok, I am thinking about painting my calipers with blue caliper paint. I picked up some by "Duplicolor" and it matches the factory color pretty close. Just wondering if anyone thinks this would not look cool? I have the '05 blue and white "F".
Sure, if you like. They're not big; I don't think it'd make much difference either way. :dunno:

aint some of the calipers parts plastic? thought about the duplicolor thing too but :dunno: if it would stick to plastic..
Go for it! What's the worst that can happen?

First off why should you care what we think? If you want blue calipers paint them blue.
All that matters is what you think as far as the color of the bike or the brakes or whatever you are thinking about.
If you are worried about what others are going to think remember you are riding the bottom of the line sportbike on the market today next to the Ninga 250 if they still offer it. Do not get me wrong. the GS500 is a cool bike but if you are woried about what others are going to think you should have bought a Busa in the frst place. You might have ended up dead but you would have looked "cool" for the short time that you lived to ride it.
Bottom line it is your bike and paint it what ever color you think is right!!
Ya, their not very big calipers. I forgot about Photoshop...a little larger of an image http://phreakflier.smugmug.com/photos/24022742-O.jpg. I'll do it up, worst case I just strip it off. Just finished painting the bracket that bolts on top of the triple clamp that the bars clamp on. Stripped the silver off and sprayed on some semi-flat black. I will post some photos in a bit. I will do the calipers on a rainy day or something, needs 24 hours to cure and well, I'd rather ride than wrench right now.

Nah, not really worried about what others think. Plenty of poser squids out there to take care of that. I ride to have a good time, not to impress or be cool. Bottom line I'm gonna do whatever, If 10 people said it would look like crap so be it. Pretty much threw it out there in case someone had seen or done it themselves. Oh well
painted mine gold, don't give a tos what others think, anyway had nothing but good comments on the bike anyway, so go for it
Be careful when bleeding your brakes. If any fluid gets on the paint, it will come off.
G4 makes caliper paint in several colors. It is a brush on 2-part epoxy paint that when cured is unharmed by brake fluid or the heat generated from the calipers. I have not used G4 yet but want to try it.
Painted the front a little bit ago, turned out pretty good. Will post a pic tomorrow. In the meantime here is the handlebar mount

Here is the painted caliper in case anyone was curious...

wow...that's bling bling :o
That looks pretty nice :thumb:
Thanks for posting the pics.
I just picked up an 05 GS 500. The bars you have look pretty sick. Do they put you into a more tucked position like the GSXR? I'm looking for bars that will do that. Any suggestions? Oh yea and the calipers look great.
calipers look good. does anyone happen to know if the blue on the 05 tail would match the blue on my front fairing on my 04

Yes, you are more tucked with these bars. If you are looking for a more leaned over riding position you would like these. See

Looks pretty subtle to me, actually. Nice.
THREAD RES
Rebuilding my caliper and figured I might as well paint it. What kind of paint do I need and where can I get it? Does it need to be primed?
