Title: float height starting point
Post by: ktrim on June 05, 2005, 10:26:47 AM
I know I can check the floats on the bike,  but the carbs are off right now.  Ive been searching for 2 hours for what to set them at as a starting point and can't find it.  My manual has been lost.  Can anyone point me in the right direction.   I know its 14mm but cant remember where to measure..

I have been taught to make them parallel with the gasket surface as a starting point, but I already know that this will be too shallow, so to make it easier for you set the floats so that they are 1/2 an inch (13mm, okay 12.5 technically) at their highest point above the gasket surface when the float needle just seats.

See if this old post (http://gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=97895#97895) (and the rest of the thread) helps.
