Title: Upright Riding
Post by: esenef74 on June 06, 2005, 07:31:47 AM
I'm looking to get a bit more of an upright riding position on my stock '01.  Are there any OEM handlebars or aftermarkets that'll raise the bars up/back a couple inches???

Maybe I could just get another inch or two in my arms...

Bikebandit.com has a bunch of handlebars bent in different configs.  I don't remember what the stock GS config is, but I bet you could find something that works.  All you need is steel tube w/ the right diameter, then bend it to what's comfortable, right?

Mr. Kerry uses a set of bar risers. Check his homepage for photos and text.

Twisted Throttle sells handle bar risers for the bike from SW Motech.

I have been looking at these off and on thinking about buying.  If I remember correctly Kerry bought his from riderhaus and I think the riderhaus is now twisted throttle.

I actually bought my GenMar risers second-hand.

But you're right about TwistedThrottle being the US-based version of (or successor of?) Riderhaus.

A less expensive option is one of the BikeMaster handlebars, probably from a local shop. The stock dimensions are 3.5" rise, 7.5" pullback, or sweep, and 27.5" wide; also the center needs to be wider than 4.75" to be able to fit between the clamps.

I have one and it feels fine, I can't remember which bend exactly but I'll do a search for it; be right back. I did have to dremel off a half inch off both ends so be able to use the stock cables and brake line.

I have verified that what I have is the Daytona, bend G form BikeBandit.com.

OLD thread I know, but I wanted to ask if anyone has used these on a 05 GS500F? If so, what kinda cable adjustments were necessary?

A more upright riding position would greatly reduce pressure on my palms. Just seems that no matter how I sit, my palms end up hurting while just cruising for extended periods.
