I just got my first motorcycle, 93 GS500E, no tools, manuals, or anything came with it.
Any suggestions on what tools (wrench sizes etc.,) I should have?
I searched but was unable to find anything that looked like an answer to this.
I have already ordered a Clymers manual, should i get any other one?
Any help appreciated.
if i remember right
8, 10, 12, 14, 19, and 22mm (19 and 22 are for the axels)
#2 and #3 phillips screwdrivers
and one really big hammer 2 rocket launchers and a flame thrower
and ummm yeah that should cover it pretty well
good luck :thumb:
Sometimes its handy to have black tape and some side cutters and wire ties as well.
Saved me more than once.
Bolt stretcher and wire strecher is also handy.
Yup, thats about it.
We have had a few threads about what do you carry in addition to basic tools and the popular answers are, bit of string, wire, spare fuse, pump, tyre preasure gauge, small flashlight, swiss army knife or multitool, gun for aligators, Duck tape etc,. etc,.
It depends a lot where you live, how far from home you will ride, common sense really. Two golden rules (for me) 1)Accept that you can't carry everything. 2) Realise that major roadside engineering is unlikely and cobbling something together to get you home is probably the most you will want.
The exception being a long tour or trip then you need to think a little deeper, for me the most comforting and practical tool I carry is a cellphone.
Thanks for the answers,
thats what I was looking to find out.
you lie Cal, you can carry everything.
