Title: 9.5k rpm cruising speed?
Post by: Pinoy21337 on June 07, 2005, 03:47:51 PM
I recently changed front sprocket with 1 less teeth in the front to embarass alot of people off the line.  My rpm's are 5k higher then they used to be.  If i want to cruise at 100mph will it be harmful to the engine if it stays at 8-9.5k rpm's?  Bike redlines at 11k.

No real harm in it. Parts will wear faster though. Check the oil level regularly.

Hey thanks for your help.  Also i go on alot of long trips.  LIke 8 hours of interstate rriding from my mom's and dad's house.  Maybe i should put the stock sprocket back on b4 i go on any long trips like that, my bike is loud doing 80mph with -1 tooth.

wait wait wait, you went to a 15 tooth front sprocket leaving the rear stock 39?  iv got the same gearing and crusing at 75mph im about 6.2krpms. around 8.5k im about 100. now i know my speedo isnt perfect but keeps the cops off me when i keep it around 6krpm, and thats running a 150/60/17 rear tire.
