I have a 04 gsf with 6,000 miles on it. So how much would I get for it at the dealer? Im looking at a few bikes that I like, thay are kaw z750,zzr600,yamaha yzf600r,fz6,suzuki sv650, katana750. So what bike do you think?

i've heard the sv650 is awesome, why do you want a new bike?

Thanks for the reply, I am ready for a bigger bike dont get me wrong I love my gs but, I need a better highway bike with stronger rollon in top gear, more horsepower and better brakes.

i'm partial to suzuki, if you wanted a biger bike for the twisties, sv650. but if you want a highway roller, katana 750.

just make sure you don't give up on the gs too soon, mine is teaching me new tricks daily. but if you've logged 6k on you 04 and think you want more, i'd say go for it.

try finding a demo day, or getting a test ride before you buy.

I have the Ninja (zzr600) and it kicks ass!  10X improvement over the GS.

Naw with that kinda milage your a pro you better move up to a tl, zx12 or even a busa  :nana:

I traded my 04 with 4000 miles on it and absolutely perfect showroom condition for 3.5k

I went from my 98 GS to a 97 TLS.  I like it a lot more.  The power is nice, but the stability is what really sold me.  There are better bikes out there, but for what I do the TL is great.  I would like a GSXR-750 for a track bike.

It's not always entirely productive to be facetious.  I agree with what you're saying, but if you're really interested in helping this fellow out, here's what I suggest :

Rich : Whatever you get, be careful.  More horsepower to weight ratio doesn't always mean more fun.  It also means more care.   If you ask anyone on this board their experience moving to bigger HP power, I'm sure you'll get more than your share of stories about "near-death-experience" rides.  You've really got to ask yourself, "why do I want a new bike".  If it's for show, I'd strongly suggest you wait just a little bit longer and make sure you're very *very* comfortable on your GS.  In fact, if you can afford it, get a track day in.  You'll be very surprised at how well you do against other bikes around the hard turns if you truly have learned how to use your GS well.

I recently gave my wife my GS (relucantly), and bought myself another bike.   After a year, and a few thousand KM's than yourself (and some seriously scraped pegs and revised suspension) I decided to try something a bit more powerful.  I'll be the first to admit that without adequate riding experience, I would have hurt myself (and my family) in more ways than one if I didn't spend so much damn time on the GS.

Whatever you do, make sure you do it for the right reasons.  Best wishes.

sv650 gets up to speed much faster. great bike  :)
