okay.. I have an alpinestars t-stunt air-flo and love it.

I tried the pants..  alpinestar air-flo.. and they suck.  I'm BEYOND impressed with their jackets.. but.. I have a size 34 waist, 32 length.  Their pants simply didn't fit me.  A large wouldn't fit around my waist, and an xtra large were way too long.. also the armor was crap. Their jackets have awesome armor, but the pants were just foam.

so.. anyone have any recommendations?

You gotta go to a brick and mortar store and try everything.  No amount of review-reading worked as well as going to the local stores and trying pants on.  I went to three, and wound up with a pair of Teknic leather and First Gear textile pants that fit.

Get the long ones and then hem them...you do know how to do that don't ya? Love the Baby bike, Sun (it won't burn out for billions of years they say), and this forum.

The problem isn't that.. it's the location of the armor.. which I don't want to mess with

I ordered JR Phoenix last week.....I'll tell you how they are as soon as I get them

I bought a pair of Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants early this spring.  They were great for riding on days that were well less then 60 degrees.  They  work great and I like them, but unlike the Alter Ego jacket, they are useless in warm weather.  Once it started geting towards 80 they become almost unbearable (and unwearable)

Where the jacket can become almost full mesh, the pants only have one panel that can be taken off to expose mesh.  I am also thinking about getting a JR Phoenix pants.  Until them I am back to jeans. (bad sam!)

Also regarding length and having them "taken in" the alter ego pants are long and they have different pokcets to hold the armour in the different locations to accommodate short legs.  It works well.

I bought and crash tested a pair of FirstGear HT Air overpants. The only thing that I would like to see is a zipper for attaching them to a jacket, but that can be fixed easily. Other than that, they are wonderful pants, and I believe that they come in talls.

While I do agree with you, this poses a problem for a lot of us, not willing to drive several hours on the hopes that they actually stock what they claim to on the phone etc.  I live in an area that doesn't cater to the current market, and only stocks products I'd be interested in several years after they've been on the market... (Case in point with my current jacket)... So many of us have to rely on individual feedback, reviews, sizing charts, etc, if we want anything decent and current.  This is more over me complaining about my current area than anything else, and doesn't even help with the comment on recommendations...

In terms of pant recommendations I can't make any, I don't have any yet, I'm broke, but plan on buying a pair of the teknic sport leather pants when that changes, ce rated armor, and a decent price, fit is the only real question and once again, I can't help you out there, but check them out, don't know what you're looking for and what price range, but seem to offer the most affordable protection I've found...

Waterproof liner, CE armor in the knees, mesh for summer.  I hope they will work for all year use. :dunno:
BTW, motorcyclecloseouts.com has them for $2 cheaper.  (Their store is like 2 miles from my house, so I usually just walk in and buy!  :cheers: )

you can still hem them, the armor is spose to be around the knee right and its hanging out around the calf?

turn the pantleg inside out from cuff up but about a hand width from the crotch area and run a stich around the leg about an inch or 2 from the folded edge, when you get done and pull the pantleg right side in again, it will now be a few inches shorter and the armor will have moved up too.
