I was just wondering if oil can go "bad" while it's still in the bottle, to the point where I wouldn't want to put it in my bike/car/whatever? It's been stored in the basement, so no exposure to crazy heat or cold. It's pennzoil 10w-40 w/ purebase and Z-7 (should be ok to use in motorcycles from my understanding). oh yeah, and the oil's been sitting for about... 2 or 3 years. thanks!
no oil dosn't go "bad" it may seperate but that should be obvouis by looking at it. heh, penzoil there's a great way to shorten the life of your motor.
I have heard nothing but bad things about pennzoil, but it's all been hearsay
An unopened bottle of oil should be fine. If it has contacted the air, I'd use it for the lawn mower.
It sat in the ground for 200,000,000 years.. :)
Once it has been opened and some of it poured out, you run a very small risk of water condensing in the bottle..
Oil is about a dollar a quart.. If you have any misgivings at all, just replace it and use that bottle to kill weeds.. :thumb:

Hey honey, the lawn mower blew up. I'm going for a ride
Man, I remember when we used to do that without any forethought or afterthought whatsoEVER. Ages ago we used to sling out old burnt oil and excess desiel fuel to kill weeds and bushes along the fence lines and ditches............if they catch you doing that now, you'd be doin' time UNDER the prison. In this case I guess that's a good thing. Do any of you remember chasing after the mosquito spraying trucks in the alleys late at night? They were spraying the deadly DDT. We didn't know it was "bad for you". We just thought it was a wonderful erie fog to run through. Those were some good times man. Wilson
p.s. I run synthetic in everything now. Even the lawnmower. Total confidence in it.

I heard a horror story the other day where an old man died and his wife decided to sell the house. When the appraiser came out, he found where the old man had been dumping oil along the house to keep the grass back..
They racked her up with so many fines that it cost her more to sell the house then she made on it. They also made her incinerate the earth around her house down something like 3 feet down and a foot back..
If its true, its very sad.. Big government sucks..
