Ok, I love my GS500F. It is an awesome bike, fun to ride, and has enough power and speed to keep me satisfied for now and a while from now.
However, there are a couple people at work that have Yamaha V-Star classic 650's. They are friends and they (playfully) tease me about having a "little bike". I don't need a big or fast bike because I don't feel the need to comphesate. I like it and thats all that matters.
But last I checked, isn't the V-star 650 sort of a "little bike" too? Wouldn't the GS smoke it, or at least give it a good run for its money? Especially in the corners, but even on the straightaways I think it would give the Vstar a run for its money.
Or am I crazy? :dunno: Any thoughts?
I bet you would win in a race. My friend owns a shadow 750 and i beat him all the time. I get him up to around 120kmph then he slowly kreeps up, but by then its over, lol. He also owns a zx9r, which he obviously smokes me with tho.
stock, you'll smoke the shaZam! out of them. yep it's a little cruiser. ask them why the didn't get the 1100, that's always funny. then go with the classic " the bigger the bike the smaller the chicken"
I rode a Vstar 650 last night (my uncles) while it was comfortable, it wasn't very quick, he even has the vance and hines, k&n and rejet, sounds great, but not as much power as i expected, I toasted him from the redlights.
I wasn't all about the cruiser feel (first time i rode one) I thought i would like it, but i felt very little control over the bike. Unlike my gs or the cb650 I almost bought where i could direct easily. compared to the gs, the vstar felt like an f350
GS = Giant Slayer
my gs is often called the "cute" bike by others
Well, that's what you get for riding such a cute little bike.
Man, I'm glad I don't have a duck. I ride what I like and have fun on it.
Roadstergal - Ok smartass, you asked for it. It isn't my duck that I have a question about. I have all sorts of fun with that. It is the bike that was in the question...nothing to do with a pee pee. And as far as that goes, if you had my duck, you'd like it and have fun riding it too. :nana:
And just for clarification, the two owners of the V-stars are females.

hmm...they might be questioning your manhood then...
by the way, my "cute" bike can kick some ass!

 HAHAHAHA! You're being teased by girls! Ahem, excuse me, I mean, women.

yea, that's pretty sad...phaedrus, you should have just kept that info to yourself.
650 is a small cruiser... My (5'3") sister has a 650 crusier...
They're probably just flirting with you... I'd just laugh along with them and say, "Well, at least you know I'm not compensating for anything." ;)
You should see the parking lot where I work... TL1000, GSX750, R1, Buell Lightning, and a Shadow Aero...
But that's all good, I'm still the boss...
Nah. I don't see them as "women", anymore than I'd see them as a "man". I just see them as RIDERS :thumb:
That is why Roadstergals comment kind of annoyed me. It's not like I was comparing duck sizes with the women for f***'s sake. Just talking about bikes!
Maybe Freud was right, and women DO have pee pee ENVY. *playfully nudges roadstergal*. She is the one that brought that element into the conversation.
To me it was about RIDERS and BIKES. Ya'll brought in the sexuality of it. Damn sickos
Where I work, depending on the day, Road King, Soft Tail, Rocket III, Monster 800, 2 sportster 883's, yamaha 350 dual sport, and my little gs.. I don't care, even the guys with the harley think the gs is pretty cool, not a harley, but still cool... who cares what you ride as long as it fits, enjoy the ride, not the model number.

Ja, most cruisers have stupid high displacement. Of course, most cruisers are stupid heavy.
You have to admit, though, that there is a sizeable contingent of guys who don't consider anything under *arbitrary displacement* fit to be seen on...
If they're gals, I'm with Vertigo that they're flirting, or at least being friendly. Cute lil' bike isn't necessarily an insult. :)
At my work, I'm tied for second smallest motorcycle with a 97 GS500 :) ... the smallest is an 70's CD400/4. 8) Sweet bike.
BUT! There are about 4 scooters. :thumb:
Not like it really matters... My bike gets me home just like everyone else's.

Her little 650 is pretty light.
Boulevard S40 - 352 lbs and a REALLY low seat.
Ja, we have everything from scooters of all makes to Nighthawk 250s to BMW touring bikes to Road Kings to a 'Busa and a 750 Monster and an R1 that regularly park next to me... and we all get to work and back home again just fine.
(Which is surprising, for the Harleys... *ducks and runs* )

Yep, I had a 2003 Savage - same bike, except for the bars. A rarity among cruisers, IMO, for its small size and nimbleness. Pretty much that, the Rebel 250, and the 125 Kawasaki - and the Savage is the only one of those I'd take on the freeway.

i get teased with my GS too...and its purple color gave them more ammo
^^^^ What happend to the BMW in the sig?
I want one of those.

they are probably hitting on ya...

I sold the GS... I am likely picking up a CS soon. When I bought the GS, I thought I was going to be an independent contractor with time to offroad... no, I'm a lab rat with a lot of tarmac miles. So I might as well have a stuff bay and belt drive.

Now
that's a cute bike... :P
As I have mentioned several times on this board, one of the other bikes in my stable is a VTX 1300..
The guys who ride the VTX 1800 (110 CI) think they are the fastest thing on the planet..
They seldom admit they regularly get thier @sses handed to them by GSX600s..
The VTX holds the distinction of being the fastest cruiser made today and it dynos in at a whopping 92 Horse power stock..
The Hayabusa weighs in at 147 Hp stock and only has 2/3 the displacement..
My point is, don't let the cruiser guys get your goat. You can probably whip them with your "cute little bike"..

Didnt one of the power rangers ride one just like that??
lol thats a good one
   That was a good one
and when you get three gs'es together they morph into a busa.

hehe..
Dude, You should smoke a V-Star 650. It has less HP than a GS500., plus it's heavier.
The GS should run circles around it.
