Simple question.  Why are there things I can't say in America?  

I'm NOT talking about shouting FIRE in a theater or anything that literally ENDANGERS people.  

I'm talking about plain old words that can't be uttered.  Like a white person saying the.... whisper it.... "N" word..... Shhhhh, don't let anyone hear.

I'm wondering why a member of a minority seems to have TRUE freedom of speech because I've heard EVERYTHING come out of their mouth but as a white guy I DON'T.  Why is MY speech censored?

It's because you are evil whitey Joe. Evil whitey is the cause of all the poverty in this great country. Evil whitey has "held back" minorities from achieving their greatness. Evil whitey wrote all the previous history books and they were deemed "racist" and HAD to be rewritten! Evil whitey has all the good jobs in this country and makes the highest wages. Sigh.........I remember decades ago when I was in my youth.....in my little town we always looked forward to the Christmas parade. It was truly a highlight in the year. We had lots of bands come. Our parade had 110 bands at times. Out of that 110 bands we had 3 to 4 bands that were from colored schools and colleges. We mused over their marching styles that were reminiscent of something out of Africa and totally "not like us". Now
maybe.......MAYBE there are 2 White bands and ALL the rest are "integrated" and they all march like chickens around a barnyard, bobbing and weaving and clucking their heads in and out, back and forth, jumping up and down like savages in a Tarzan movie.
This is regression whether people want to admit it or not. It saddens me to see so much apathy and lethargicness with a "head buried in the sand" attitude today over what is called normalcy. Many reference points had to be changed. They did it with the media and publishing. They did it just like Hitler did it. You start with the youth. And for the last three decades our youth have been spoonfed this poison.
My tale of our Christmas Parade is an example of what has spread like a disease throughout all facets of our lives, from work to life and living in general. I'm in a quest for the festering core of the carbuncle that has taken over and is quickly destroying our great nation. I think I've found it. One only has to "follow the money".

That's not a matter of free speech, that's politeness; there's a big difference. If the government was persecuting you for calling someone a Homeboyus Africanus then that would be a violation of free speech. People thinking you're an ass for using racist insults is not censorship, it's peer pressure.

As an aside, of course people would chastize you for using a racist insult. And they should. It's an extremely hateful and offensive term. And no, blacks shouldn't called whites crackers either because that's also racist, but it is not as offensive a term as "Homeboyus Africanus." Both terms are equally racist (but not equally offensive) and anyone (black or white) using them against someone should be thought as ass for doing so. So yes, there is a double standard, but that doesn't make it right for whites to use "Homeboyus Africanus."

(In case anyone misunderstands, "Homeboyus Africanus" is not a more offensive term than "cracker" because of anything to do with race. Words have histories and connotations. For instance, if I call someone a "jerk," that is very different than if I call them a "c@%t." The former is a weak term, the latter a very strong one (so much so that the board censored it). "Homeboyus Africanus" is more offensive because throughout history it has collected very strong connotations, while "cracker" has not.)

See, you guys are making my point for me.  When someone disagrees with what YOU believe is right, they are brutally, personally, attacked.  They're pretty much told to shut up and go away.

I've have had SO many of my threads deleted that I'm losing count.  WHY?  Because what I say isn't politically correct.  Why is it in our society that minorities are so protected that they can do no wrong?  Why does the majority HAVE to put up with their behaviour?  AND like it.

Go watch BET (the black channel) someday.  It's the aljazeera of blacks.  Whites (and others too) are protrayed in the WORST ways possible.  My God, look at what they think is "cool".  How could anyone with any sense of morals or pride agree with that?  If a "white" channel EVER did anything remotely similar it WOULD be labled the KKK channel and shut down.

simple:

the first amendment only prohibits the government from infringing on your freedom of speech, as defined by endless court decisions.  Private individuals are not prohibited from  censoring speech in private forums (private businesses, homes, message boards, etc.).

And all people, be them federal actors or private citizens, have a right to think that certain speech is vulgar, or in poor taste...the government just can stop you from saying vulgar or offensive things, except in certain situations.

I think that is a problem in this country.  Nobody is willing to criticize a minorities "bad" behaviour.  Did any of you hear Bill Cosbys comments?  He was SLAMMED for saying what he did, but it was ALL true.  Changes in behaviour NEED to be made.  Changes in THINKING need to be made.

I think we are perfectly capable of criticizing 'bad behavior', we're criticizing yours aren't we? The fact that we aren't willing to lump said behavior on an entire race sex or creed is what you seem to not be able to get.

I think the question "do you have freedom of speech" is a bit too vague and open ended. Given that the question is posed in relation to the airing of television or radio specifically intended for a particular ethnic group it does make me wonder why there is no WET (white entertainment television). I guess then that Joe asks whether or not you would be allowed to air a tv or radio channel that exists with the intention of entertainment and amusement of white audiences. I do understand the question and I think I can understand the irritation it must cause. However, if it were to really be that big a thorn in your side, Joe, why don't you put it to the test and see what happens? If the programming were to be consistent with the content and messages of BET et al with the reverse of the ethnic connotations then it should legally be protected under the constitution. If it were not protected then there would be grounds to also file suit for an injunction against the competition. At least that's the way I see it, I could be wrong.

Now getting back just to the issue of freedom of speech, what I find most disturbing is how an individual has to be careful how they speak out against what they perceive as government wrong-doing. Take the Patriot Act; Senators and Congressmen who spoke out against the act were branded as un-patriotic and terrorist sympathizers. Turning the act into a permanent piece of legislation allows for the un-doing of that very freedom of speech which you have just questioned us about. Love the little GS, Aruba (wonder if that girl is alive?), and this forum.
