Did any year GS ever come with black frame caps
Byt frame caps I mean the little plastic plugs that fit into the frame to cover the bolts that hold on the swingarm and shock
My 04 has black caps
EDIT-oops, mine has silver, black ones for the top shock bolt.

I was hoping the black framed bikes had them
I tried to paint them but the results were less than steller
after a long winter rebuild the GS is starting to come back together
I ran out of steam mid march and have just been putting stuff off for the longest time
soon tho, soon it will be together

Yea those things are hard to paint and look like crap otherwise, especially after 12 years of sun fading and if you have a black frame. I did my shock plug with out incident, but the swing arm ones would be harder because you have to bend them to get them in. I saw a comercial for some Krylon plastic paint the a few weeks back, perhaps that would bond to the plastic better and allow you to get them into the bike with out the paint falling off. Make sure you scuff the surface really good with a scotch brite. Another option would be to mask off around the plug while its already in the hole and then paint it, you would want to mask off a big area to avoid over spray though, you would probley need some striping tape made for cutting tight corners then your standard width masking tape on top of that.
Best bet is to use a 3M pad or equiv. and scruff them up to take off the shine. Clean them with denatured alcohol or something that will remove the grease and oils (dont touch it with bare skin after you clean it. Now give it a coat of Adhesion Promoter. This will make the topcoat stick. I painted the lower valence on my pickup with the above steps and it has held up for almost a year, including winter.
