Title: Could've died last night..
Post by: 97gs500e on June 14, 2005, 01:11:58 PM
So I was riding back from work last night, It was probably about 11 - 11:30ish and I was cruising along a well-lit road with a posted speed limit of 45mph.

I was approaching a light as it was turning yellow, and I knew I could make it if I increased my speed a little.  So I made it through all right doing about 55mph and just as I did, there was a car in front of me on my side of the median going the wrong way, and it was a f*ckin ford expediton.

My front wheel locked up and I left a nasty skid mark on the road, and that expedition stopped about 20 feet in front of me.  I had never been more scared and angry at the same time.  I managed to give that women the double deuce  :nana:  before she pulled around me and sped away.

Some people should not be allowed behind the wheel.      :x

they were going the wrong way on the road?  thats some scary crap.  Encountered that once before but i was in a cage and it still scared the crap out of me.  If I recall it was a 1 way street.

You locked your front and kept it up?  :o  DAMN!  You're a better rider than me!!!!!!

Nothing worse than HUUUUUGE SUVs with little people in the seat...  They can hardly see over the wheel.

But you lived! So that's ok. Maybe it's because I ride in London, but it happens to me all the blo*dy time here. I kinda see it as part of the attraction

I mean the rest of my life is pretty dull. So when I'm really bored I go out on the GS and come back with my heart beating fast. Lord knows what I'd be like if I could afford a ZX-6 or similar, probably either banned or dead!

Just laugh about the near misses.

glad your ok, great job on keeping it up while skidding the front tire.  yesterday I had someone riding half in my lane while coming around a curve.  I had to swerve, I looked back and the person kept riding halfd way in my lane, didnt even phase them.  and once I was driving down this 4 lane road witha turning lane in the middle, total 5 lanes.  And I was in the left lane on my side and this car comes swerving from there side straight toward me, I had to swerve and almost got hit.  Drunk driver in the car, I kept driving and there was about 6 cop cars going around down different ways at the intersection.

She was lost and confused.

I did that ONCE in a strange city in the rain at night.  It was a REALLY wierd intersection with train tracks, multiple roads coming together, and long story short, I ended up on the wrong side of the median going the wrong way.  Pulled a quick "U" turn and went back around.
