Greetings,
Last week I responded to an ad in the classifieds for a 1999 GS500e. I've been looking for one for a while now and this seemed like the perfect bike.
So I went to see it, and it looked a little strange to me. It wasn't as naked as I thought it would be...
I made an offer on it, and gave her the night to think it over. When I got home I started researching GS500s and ended up at this site. I read a lot of the messages on here to get an idea of what I was dealing with...
Then I looked at the Site Owner Info link on the main page and realized something interesting... The GS500e that I made an offer on IS Anne's old GS500e that is in all the pictures. I wasn't sure at first but I went back to see it a second time and was able to identify each and every modification, right down to the SV650 foot pegs.
So Wednesday night I will be the proud owner of the very motorcycle that apparently launched this website.
How cool is that?
its a small freakin world! post pics when u get it!

I'm heading out tomorrow night about this time to pick up the bike. I will be either trailering it or putting it in the bed of my truck, as I don't want to drive it at all until I've changed the oil and lubed the chain. It's been sitting for 7 months.
I can't wait. New battery is charging in the barn. Getting all my yellow clothes together. :)
Anyone heard from John? I emailed him about the bike but never heard back, then the site went down...

Yup, I'm in Mass. From what I can gather, John and Anne sold the bike to a woman named Angela or Angelina or something like that. She in turn sold it to a college professor, who, sadly, recently died (not on the motorcycle). His wife, a very kind lady, just wants the bike to go to someone who will care for it and enjoy it. And that's where I come in.
At first I kinda balked at it, because the mileage is up around 15000. But, it's so pretty and well taken care of I just couldn't resist.
I promised the woman I'm buying it from that I wouldn't drive it home. She's just looking out for me. She wants to make sure it's tuned up and road worthy before I make the 30 mile trip home, so I agreed to trailer it home.
That should be a good time. :)
