I don't really know.. They were on the bike when I bought it..
I do know they were stuck on the bike specifically to sell it, so I imagine they are the absolute cheapest tires available..
I'll have a look at them and let you know..
That looks better than I thought it would... I would love to hear a sound clip.
Quote from: codyThat looks better than I thought it would... I would love to hear a sound clip.
I'll make and post a sound clip, I just cant imagine it doing justice to this thing..
it looks alot better than i was expecting, but still not as cool as my supertrapp
good job!
yeah.. video would be nice.. just borrow a camera with video/sound feature..

Thanks..
I have a camera that will do 5 second video clips.. My concern is that it will sound wimpy. I have used my camera to video clip people shooting skeet and the guns sound like someone breaking a cracker..
sound clip!!
man... i'm usually the most skeptical about this sort of thing, but i think i'm sold...!
Hmm, CF can with (IMO) too big of a tip or a rashed up Supertrapp???
I'll take the CF any day, thank you very much!
Compared to the stock exhaust which I would rate a 4.5/10 for loudness, what would you rate this can?
My wileyco>That
Quote from: Mk1inCaliCompared to the stock exhaust which I would rate a 4.5/10 for loudness, what would you rate this can?
In sheer decibel loudness I would give it an 8 to 8.5 out of 10...
The charm of this thing, is its tone..
Compared to my cruisers, which in sheer decibel loudness hold thier own, but give out a *BLAT BLAT BLAT* sound, this thing puts out a nice, conversational "WOOOOOM" sound...
The other neat thing is it is highly controlable..
That is, If you want to putter out of the neighborhood at 6 a.m. without waking up half the world, you can.. Once you are free of the neighborhood, you can really make this thing bark!
I'll try and get that video file posted today..
Thats all???
12 replys??
You guys were lining up to hammer me when you thought it was a bad idea..
Now that its the bomb, you guys only give me 12 replys!!!!
I'll try and get that sound file on here tonight..
That should spark new interest.
other than the burn tip, i like it, prolly not something i would do, but it looks cool
Quote from: jordanearlother than the burn tip, i like it, prolly not something i would do, but it looks cool
Other then the burn tip, its a wileyco.. (except 1/2 the price..)
the sound is what drives me away from doing something like that. I have an obx r can off my eclipse laying around an thought about it when i first got my gs. but figured it would be so loud my neighbors would piss themselves
atleast my rashed up supertrapp has charater.
My rashed up stock pipe does too...
Too bad it's a character flaw! :P

Yup I got there just after this thread :P
Anyway. what are the dimensions on that WRX can? Inlet/outlet? Length? Did you have to buy any other parts than just the can and to have it welded on?
more power to you for doing something different, but that looks retarded.

Don't know what to say about that. Other then you officially have a rice burner motorcycle!
Retarded comments aside ... I'd say unusual more than tarded ... its just a surprise ...
The snout at the end of a sport bike can has 1 real world use ... it keeps water out if you park in the rain ... Yours looks like it will take in quite a bit in rain.
Also A carbon wileyco and flange (when CF was available was like $125) I know cos I sold a few ... then they went to SS cos all the CF was sold ... and the price went to 110 with flange ... You spent $98 somehting ... and you also did a bunch of legwork ... I only had like $32 or so in each of the flange I made prior to the recent run ... and the recent ones were cheaper ... quite a bit cheaper ... I'd say $27-28 ... atleast in part cos I didn't destroy that many ... so $110 for no leg work ... all the bits come to your door ... or $98 with you figuring out muffler shops and getting it done ... so not 2 times ... BTW no more wileyco stainless either ... so people are going to have to start thinking in terms of these ... IMHO ... so you may have a opportunity to fill that niche if you so feel like it.
OK here is the final blow ... Your can may leave the bike leaner than 150 will be able to cope with ... OK OK the header is the main culprit and it will kill the flow much worse than anything ... so what you do after the headers wont be of any real consequence ... OK fine ... but your fuel starvation problem ... see if 152.5-155 mains helps it ... if so ... you can is the reason ... now its not really a disadvantage ... you just have to fiddle and fine tune it to be right ... no standard tricks will work for you ... so you find your tuning secrets and pass it back to the people that want to try this.
Basically doing it for yourself is just 1/2 the game ... you gotta pass it on ...
Cool.
Srinath.
I think it looks pretty cool. No more awkward looking than the wileyco pipes, and not as big. Kudos! :thumb:
-Gavin
Someone asked what the dimentions of the can are...
Here is the actual e-bay auction for it..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7977760668&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
It is 18 inches long (same as stock)
5.5 inches in diameter..
2.25 inch inlet (although the auction says 2.5)
4 inch outlet (silencer out)
I bought a 2 1/4 to 1 7/8 reducer to weld to the headpipe and the first thing the guy at the muffler shop did was remove it. :dunno:
He cut 1/2 the length of the intake down and welded directly to the headpipe somehow.. There is also a stress mark under the bike where it looks as if he bent the head pipe to make it hit the intake hole better.
I am currently running
150 mains
.40 pilots
1 shim on the needle
2.5 turns on the A/F mix (bench set and not adjusted further)
Anything else I can tell you about it?
Quote from: gavinI think it looks pretty cool. No more awkward looking than the wileyco pipes, and not as big. Kudos! :thumb:

How long are the wileycos?
From the pics I have seen, they must be three feet long..
These are short and phat..
They are almost same dimensions as the stock ... yours looks fine till you look at it from behind ... that large end just looks like its off the wall ... also being shiny SS wileyco's draw your eye to it ... yours does the opposite.
Cool.
Srinath.
The Wileyco CF is $113 by itsself, shipped to my location..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4543896818&category=35596&sspagename=WD1V
Then add a flange for $45 and you have $163 (fuzzy math) invested in what I got for 90.. :nana:
I don't care what anyone says, that melon shooter opening is bad @ss and draws a LOT of attention going down the road.. :guns: :P
I will have to watch getting rain in the pipe.. I hadn't really thought of that.. 8)
Well... If it's stainless, then you don't have to worry as much about rust... Just CRAP LOADS of water to burn off when you start it up.
I guess we'll need the "6 months of rain" update... :dunno:
Quote from: RVertigoI guess we'll need the "6 months of rain" update... :dunno:
Absolutely..
We will see how much rain it actually sees in 6 months..

Might as well get my .02 in.
Sounds louder doesnt equate to HP. Dyno the thing and lets see what the real numbers on. I doubt with the restrictions at the header, that you are going to see anything too much beyond stock other than what your rejetting did. Depending on the amount of back pressure ( the WRX being a 4 cyl and all) you might loose a bit running it.
On to the looks department. well............... Ill go with " what ever turns your crank" I oersonally would be ashamed to go in public with a what looks like a fart can car exhaust in fear of being laughed at by everyone who has ever rode a bike. Thats just me tho. Again, you are the one riding it so if you like it that is all that matters.
Mike
For whoever asked that is a Duro rear tire. At $38.50 from my local shop yes it is a cheap tire. Mounted it myself. With $2.00 state disposal fee then tax, came to $41.39. Closest size available to stock is 140/70-17. Looked way too wide and flat until I got air into it. Seems to ride just fine at a cruising speed of "indicated" 80-90 mph.
Quote from: DarkCyDEMight as well get my .02 in.

This had nothing to do with HP..
When I bought the bike, it was a piece of sh!t..
It idled great, but that was it.. It didint go down the road.. :x
Had I known that before I made the 4 hour drive home with it in the back of the truck, I would have never bought it.. :x
The moron who had it before me put a lunchbox on a stock pipe..
Although there were MAJOR exhaust leaks around the header, it still was too restrictive to handle the lunchbox and the wild 147.5 jets he stuck in the carbs only seemed to aggrivate the situation..
I took it all back to factory in the carbs and it ran just okay until I could afford to put a straight through exhaust on it..
It has taken me nearly two months to undo all the crap this moron did to this bike, but other then a fuel delivery problem, it is finally mechanically lined out..
So far everyone who has seen it in person has loved it..
Now we get to start doing cosmetic work!!!!  :)   8)

Right on, would still be really interested to see the numbers on it if you ever do run it threw a dyno. might be interesting to see. Ya never know, you might start a trend Can never tell how well something will preform until its tried
Mike
P.S.> still looks too short :P LOL
Yea some clowns sell wiley co for more ... I bought from anysunday parts.com ... it was $85 to my door. $75 and 10 shipping. Now I also saw DK have same type prices at that time ... now that wileyco is awol from DK its pretty much free range I guess ...
Cool.

Its not length, but girth that gives "the pleasure".. ;) ;)
Yea, if I did this, I'd hack off the tip and weld on a more appropriate one. This would also keep the sound slightly more reasonable. Other than that, it looks just fine IMO.

Since missed this on June 29th, I give my $.02.
I am surprised that I didn't laugh right away. It actually looks nice.
I think the short can is in vogue. I like the short stubby can (it is a stuning thing, though I don't stunt).
I sort of agree that if you had the tip cut off and left it flat on the back it would be super dope.
look's cool dude.
Bump..
I figure it will give the kiddies a chance to ask Santa for a WRX can for Christmas..
just kinda stumbled upon this...
This is exactly what I did with my girl's EX500 last year when we needed an exhaust, only I used a stainless can.
The thing sounds straight up bad ass. I-Twins with BIG exhausts just sound cool as hell. I'll get a clip up of the Ninja. Somewhat awkward looks but damn do they sound awesome...almost as slick as my TL with turn-downs.
Quote from: makenzie71just kinda stumbled upon this...

maybe, but damn that looks terrible. sorry to be harsh, but that pipe has no business on that bike.
the bikes that I've used them on have always been ratbikes so I ellaborated anything that could make the performance aspect more of a caricature. The big cans suit and look pretty good on the over-all setup...as a whole. But things need to be done with everything else in mind.
On a nice, solid bike I wouldn't do the big can. Now, slap on a busa rear assembly (swinger, wheels, etc) and a front end, strip all the plastic off, load the front a bit and paint it all a goofy flat/matte black that can would look pimp.
