Title: Cortech sport bags on '01+.
Post by: Roadstergal on June 22, 2005, 02:04:12 PM
Pics, as requested.  Sorry about the lighting; it's terrible in the garage, so I had to use flash.

You have four straps with loops that you can put anywhere on the bike that works.

I went for the passenger footrest...

...and the rear turn indicators.  One good reason to leave 'em stock.

Toss the bags over the seat.  There are two straps - a thick one closer to the front and a thin one closer to the rear - that are velcroed to give variable distance between the bags.  Here, it's at the shortest.

Snap the bags in...

They end up being narrower than the handlebars.  Sorry, this pic sucks

I tried sitting as a passenger.  It's OK, although the way the bags are sitting makes you put your heels on the pegs.

They have rain covers, but for regular commute-length freeway rides, even pouring rain is kept at bay.  I keep the rain covers in the bags in case a long trip in the rain suddenly comes up.   :P

Now you just need a tail bag and a bigger tank bag...   :P

I'm leaning towards a set of those as a short term solution for my '93. Less of a commitment than buying a dedicated rack and case, as I can always use them on a future bike if I want to, or have a broader audience available to sell them to.

I don't plan on taking any weeklong trips, maybe a weekend at most. should be enough room (I won't have the old lady with me, so no need to be clean)

purple nails?  what are you thinking, you have to match the bikes, yellow with red lighting bolts is the only way to go.

Thanks for doing that Roadstergal.  I owe you a beer

I never get tired of looking at that yellow GS500F.... if only they'd offered that colour in Canada.

Neil.

I always leave those four straps zip-tied on the bike.  The front two on the passengers, the rear two on the rail underneath the side covers.  I have the Cortech Sport Saddlebags and Tail bag and leave them clipped to each other.  It's really easy to just toss the whole thing over the rear seat, clip 4 straps together, and take off.  Works very well.

Looks great.  I have the matching tailbag and had been considering these.  I think they might be my next purchase.

The tailbag is very nice.

Emailed the Tourmaster folks and they don't import Cortech stuff into Canada  :x

Could have ordered it from the U.S. but I found an alternative at a local shop.  Oxford is a British company that makes (among other things)  sportbike luggage.

//www.oxprod.com

They have three lines of luggage; Sports, Humpback and 1st Time

I got the 1st Time saddlebags (OF414) which are pretty basic, but did the trick for our little trip.  Got 'em for $85 CDN too :thumb:

They don't quite match the Rocket stuff, oh well.
