Tonight I bought a very special GS500e. It is Annie's old bike (Annie of GSTWIN.com fame...). But more importantly, it was a bike last owned by a man who loved it, but sadly died of leukemia way before his time. His wife, a very kind soul, was very interested in seeing the bike go to someone who would love and care for it. I think it was hard for her to see it drive away...
Anyway. I feel very lucky to have this motorcycle for a lot of reasons. I know its history. I know it was owned by people who loved it. I drove it 30 miles home, and after 5 minutes it felt like I'd been riding it forever.
Motorcycle ownership is an intimate thing. There's something to be said for buying a bike with a history, especially when that history is a happy one.

Here's me, the bike, and the woman who sold it to me.

And here she is at home. I took the backrest off as I'm more of a solo rider.
Cheers. You'll be hearing much more from me this summer!
Nice. Hope you have fun with it and welcome to the site
now you just need to take a bicture of you riding with jean shorts and a bikini top for your new avatar.

I guarantee that NO ONE wants to see that. :)
John does.
Let me know if you like the corbin seat as i was thinking of getting one.

Uhhh... It's tradition. You're going to have to.
Look what happened to the last guy who didn't! :o
Get on your knees in front of it and apologize immediately!
Congrats on the special bike. Take care of it and it will take care of you. :thumb:

After only 40 miles or so I am enjoying the Corbin seat a lot. The color match isn't perfect (the back of it is yellow) but it's close enough. Perhaps it's just faded. Just taking the seat off and holding it, looking it over, it does appear to be a quality product.

So I've got about 100 miles on the bike now, and I am thrilled with the seat. My back is hurting a little adjusting to the new seating position (my old bike is a 79 Honda cx500 with high bars...) but I don't think that has anything to do with the seat.
This motorcycle is so fine. I love it to pieces. It sounds beautiful, handles great, and the targa fairing made my riding on Rt. 95 a lot easier.
Couldn't be happier!
And in the best color aswell :thumb: Look after it, as I know you will

I love the color. I have a kayak the same color. I bought this last night when I was out riding. Matches the bike and fits nicely under the helmet...

You wanna sell them?

nope.
since John's actually been on the board lately just though I'd give this a bump.
Hey, look at that. I look like a tool in that picture. How come this is the first time I noticed that?
Anyway, here's a better pic of the bike. I love it as much today as I did when I picked her up a few months back. She's a creampuff.
