First of all a sprocket chnage is a must with 1 less tooth in the front. Now the biggest mistake i made when i first attempted wheelies is after high rpm i would pop the clutch and leave my throttle hand still. This only poped the front wheel up and go straight back down to the ground. in order to ride a decent wheelie; after you pop the clutch u need to twist the throttle even more! In doing this you need to roll on throttle till high rpms and as soon as u pop the clutch still roll on throttle. Because when u pop the clutch your RPM's drop and u need to keep it pretty high. another thing i noticed is you have to go pretty slow when u do wheelies on the gs. Id say 10mph or so. if you go arund 15-20 and pop the clutch, it will just pop the wheel up for a couple seconds and u take off fast. Now i ride wheelies till my first gear runs out. I do have one question though, is it easy changing gears while in a wheelie? I've never attempted this yet, i wanted to get my basics of wheelies down first. Hope this help guys!
Here is a video of a 250cc ninja doing a nice wheelie. Go to 7th video on the page

Notice how slow he is going; barely moving almost. Then he rides until he runs out of first gear. If a 250cc bike can do that, then you know your GS500 can do just as well. Just takes practice!
before trying to change gears, learn the rear brake. learn a blance point wheelie. it is where the rpms stay constant, and you have to work the rear brake alittle to keep it there. Thats just what I would do if I were you. Learning on a 50cc dirtbike is easier when learning because the bike is so small and light. concept is the same. But I have never shifter in a wheelie, but if you can shift smoothly without the clutch then do it the same in a wheelie. I am still leanring the rear brake so I can ride it basicaly forever, I have pics in the wall of fame, on page 8 or 9 and also on maybe 5 in the wall of fame, Im on the red bike riding a real high wheelie.
Thanks for your help. I'm a little scared to do the blance point wheelie because there is a fine line where u give it to much gas and you loop it. I can shift real well without the clutch, but performing that while almost vertical may hinder your ability to do that; i might give it to much gas and loop it.
ya thats where you got to learn the rear brake, if you can get a hold of a dirtbike or a little 50cc dirtbike that would be good for learning. Its hard to get it on a big bike but on a dirtbike its easier, i just need to get a dirtbike of my own and then I can ride it when I want. anyone want to sell me one? haha
You can usually find them on Craigslist pretty cheap... Especially the small ones.

so tired of beating that horse  anyone else wanna take up that torch
?
Dont use cluth for wheelies. Not that good. I can do it without the cluth, and actually keep it up. Like he said, practice! u dont need no cluth for it on this bike. Its light enough.
How do you do power wheelies on a GSE? The only way i can think of is rejet, air filter, and have 2 less teeth in front sprocket.

i do power wheelies on my E. i have 150/40 rejet, K&N lunchbox and a wileyco pipe. stock sprockets. i roll in 1st around 5k and bounce down on the forks. when its at the bottom give it WOT. boom ur up.
I personally dont see as to how your abusing your clutch when you use it to do wheelies. First it really isnt hardly any different from taking off from a stop or when your downshifting, I have downshifted many times where my rpms will drop to 5k and when I let out the clutch jump to 7k, essentially the same principal when you are poping it to perfrom a wheelie. Im sure it doesnt do your clutch any good but I dont see it flying out of the side cover either, as long as your doing them right.

Wouldn't changing the front sprocket alone have the same power as stock sprocket with rejet, k&n, and a pipe? I noticed a big diff but didnt waste my money on suping it up. Saving money for a GSXR 600 or 750]
Ive owned my E for about 7 years now and have since moved up to a gsxr 6. I have rejetted the carbs k&N single barrel idividual air filters and just hollowed out my stock muff, 1 less tooth on front sprocket, and a 140/60/17 rear tire, o yea and i did that front fork spacer kit i seen on here that a guy did and it works miricles!. last year at bikes blues and bbq in fayettville, arkansas they had a trailer with a dyno i got 51hp at rear wheel that was with 101 octane fuel, im a heavy guy about 220 and that may help but i can clutch my bike at about 40 in second gear at about 5500 rpms and stand it up and shift it out to 4th and pedal it after that for a bit and ive clutched mine up since the day i got it and have never had any clutch problems, but even if the clutch does go out dennis kirk has a heavier duty kit for under 100 bucks and thats worth the fun if ya ask me. gs is so light and nimble i like it as much as my gsxr6 , its not allways what u ride its how you ride it!

yes there is a difference with rejet, air filter and pipe. more down low.

Its like, 15$ for a sprocket
