A motard could actually pass a supersport on a technical track... it carries amazing corner speed.

I'll be at buttonwillow on august 29!

yeah, I tried to time myself on that video too, got about same as you. dont know if that was an average time. I didnt look as fast on those laps as I was otherwise. I think they were taken first few laps of a session but I could be full of hot air...

not bad considering that was the first time I have ever been on streets. much more technical and took me longer to figure parts of it out. still have trouble with t4-t6...

Yeah t4-t6 were kinda difficult for me to because i had to short shift really early so i wouldnt overreve. But I eventually got it which helped me get a good drive to t8 and get an even better drive out of t8 but I did it twice and it kinda gets boring.  Jimmy

the guy videotaping me and the guy I went with both were on dirt bikes converted to supermotards...and keeping up with me fine, except on the straights. bastards. both on 650cc bikes.

by moving your lower body over, your upper body will be forced to react and move also.

well, look at my 4 pictures in my sig...my lower body is over pretty far (knee down everywhere) but my upper body isnt in line with the bike. I'm crossed up in a bad way. Last 2 trackdays I've been working on getting my upper body off the bike as well as my lower body and I am able to lean the bike farther, or so it seems. Moving my lower body only just makes me get all crossed up. bad form.

I suspect the video was taken early in the session before I really got on it since I was only half assed about getting off the bike.

it looks to me that your just sticking your knee out just to stick your knee out.  not because you shifted your weight to the inside.

thats what makes me think this was the first 2 laps of the session. I WAS getting off the bike, but not much. not like this, taken at last trackday-

When I'm running hot I get my body off the bike, leaving 1 or only partial butt cheek on the seat and lately I've been working on keeping my upper body parallel to bike, off the bike (kissing the mirror, so to speak).

how do your shoulders feel when you ride? They look a bit high from the pics, like your riding tense and tightening your shoulders, when you tighten up, your shoulders will naturaly rise without you realizing. Next time your out try and notice how they feel. If you allow your shoulders to relax and drop, it will allow your entire upper body to flow much better. just an observation.
notice the shoulders

Judas Priest and Motorcycles...I love it!

That DR sure does turn tight!  It looked like he could go in on the inside and still dive deeper mid-turn...

Sweet video!

who is that rider "88",

Is that suppose to be a good or a bad example?  :dunno:

Because to me..that's an example of really bad form.  His head should be on the inside of the centerline of the bike not leaning toward the outside of the gas tank.

the #88 rider is andrew pitt. I would say that it is a good example of how your shoulders should look if you are riding relaxed. where his head is, is really pretty irrevelant imo. I say that simply because i've seen riders with their necks sticking way out into the turn, and i've also seen riders with their head and upper bodies acting as counter weight towards the outside of the turn. I would assume that whatever style works for them is gonna make them faster.

thats what I consider good form, or at least what I try to strive for. when my head is still behind the windscreen and my but is hanging off I feel (and look) crossed up on the bike. Definitely works better for me to get my head inside the centerline of the bike ('kissing the mirror' is the term I've heard it called).
