Time to look at my first bike. Coudln't find a gs5 (though i really wanted one) so I'm browsing a Honda Nighthawk 250. I'm thinking of offering the guy 1100 dollars for a 92.
My question is. Has anyone had any experience with this bike? Is it very stable on the highway? It looks small, but I know i can handle it. Although riding it about 30 miles on the freeway would be my first ride. I believe I can take this as well, I'm just scared as f**k.
The issues on the bike? Second gear is missing. Does anyone have a quick idea on how much a gear replacement costs? Also, the drum brakes seem in need of service. Any number on that as well? You guys seem very knowledgable on this board, I want to get the best advice possible. Thanks you!
it's not worth your time.

My sister HATED them... I've never tried one.
I don't know about freeways in your area, but around here going 55-60 is dangerous... People seem to go INSANE trying to get around you... So, having a top speed of 80 (according to that site) doesn't seem like fun to me... It sounds more like you'll be pushing the bike to it's limits just to keep up with the flow of traffic...
But, like I said... I've never tried.
As for that specific bike... $1100? Missing gears? Don't waste your time... You can get a fully functioning bike for $1100.
Hold out !!
I got my 95 GS w/ 180 Miles on it for $1000.
You will find something better!
I would let that one go for sure
In North Carolina I don't think a 250 is freeway legal. It'd probably be easily blown around with all the trucks and speeding cars.

In a 250cc, I'd shoot for an EX250 (Ninja)... more useful once you graduate to highway riding.
